Forums - Website Topics - The VGC 3.0 Complaint/Suggestion Thread

I have one major complaint and that is the removal of the Hot Topics box that used to be on the front page. That is how I saw forum topics and it was convenient to use instead of going back and forth between between forums eg. Sony and Nintendo and Microsoft. Please try to incorporate this into the new website.

Also I dont like how information is now spread into different categories as I think all of this should be displayed on the main page.

Personally I HATE this new design and would highly recommend changing it back to what it previously was.

The splitting of hot topics into the forums is intentional. The idea with the new site is to prevent cross-trolling in forums you shouldn't be in. If I create a topic in the xbox forum about a game I don't want it derailed by PS3 / Wii fans. By having seperated forums like this we split the discussion more - you only frequent the forum that is of interest to you. That said, we are working on some changes to the forum navigation to make things a little easier to move through.

I like that you are thinking about the trolling but I honestly think that trolls won't stop just by isolating the forums. I actually think that kepping the forums will give a good idea to the posters of whos a troll and whos not.

Thanks for the quick reply and I would really be grateful to you if you could make this small little change so its mmore conveninet for the users.

Can you also add a few more forums on the homepage (Hub) under it says GamrConnect as that can be the Hot Topics that many people are asking for. Also can you make it differ by using the different colours like it was before. Thanks a lot, mate.

We're not tools of the government, or anyone else. Fighting was the only thing... the only thing I was good at. But... at least I always fought for what I believed in.

my suggestion is to scrap everything and go back to 2.0..... God this site is a mess

That's a bit extreme, 3.0 has plenty of potential. But I think it would've been a good idea to keep 2.0 up while making sure everything in 3.0 worked properly, as right now it is obvious not enough testing went on.

I've never really posted much, but I used to frequently come to check the forums. The new colors really turn me off and I'm not interested in browsing through every single sub-forum instead of the Hot Topics.(the trolls will still troll) I'm going to give it some time to improve, but currently I see myself lurking less and muting myself completely.

EDIT: I know my sig is broken, I'm pretty sure it was uploaded to vgChartz so I'm not going to do anything to fix it. Simply don't care right now.

answer anyone?

answer anyone?

how about adding features we had in the old VG like being able to compare the games sales by graph and mutliple games :P correct me if we can do that

The new Zelda is gonna have a white background

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

I love that we can see more than 10 weeks of the precise sales, right on the game's page. However, my biggest suggestion would be to bring back the "most popular" section in the sales area. That makes it so much easier to reach the games I want to see, as I'm usually looking at what everyone else is. Other than that, I think the search button should be defaulted at "game" rather than "article."

Edit: Oh, and one more thing: I have no clue how hard this would be and nobody should be expected to see this idea implemented with lightning speed, but... For everyone who doesn't like the coloration and style of the new site, wouldn't the easiest option be to add a skins/themes/colors kind of option to personalize the site for different users. I probably sound foolish for bringing up an idea that is so simple and has probably already been thought of, but I thought I'd bring it up anyways.

I survived the Apocalyps3

I can't figure out how to navigate the site and I can't tell who made the post in the "recent posts" section/afterthought that used to be my main focus of the entire website. Other than that it's a triumph.

...it's very confusing. Why not just have 4 different pages, instead of 4 different "websites" which actually are the same site with a different domain name.

...is this to keep the forums activity from crashing the domain controller, because I don't know if it'll work unless people link directly to the forums website in their favorites?

Also, this will garner a lot more hits and ad space, so I'm assuming it's a good thing. The site is a little more professional and a lot harder to nagivate imo. Maybe I'll get used to it.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

But on the other side of the coin, you're encouraging people to isolate themselves in their own little worlds and discouraging exposing them to other forums -- that doesn't bother you?

And what about My Recent Threads?

No, maybe that way people will start talking more about games rather than using any excuse to just troll each other and derail threads.

This won't change overnight but eventually I believe that it'll work. All those who keep criticising - it was me who first created hot topics, recent threads etc. I'm fully aware of their functionality and benefit as it was my who devised them to start with - same with 95% of the rest of the features that VGChartz has contained over the years. Any decisions to change or move away from something are intentional and with a reason, even if some of you don't like it or can't see it. VGChartz is no longer small site or community, we are growing and need to make necessary changes to both accomodate the current growth and continue to expand.

We'll see how things go but I do wish people wouldn't talk to me like these features were their idea or something. If you all like VGChartz and come here because you enjoy the site we've put together, please place some trust in the fact that we know what we are doing.

Well actually, I don't want to sound like a ''mister know-it-all'' or anything, but I believe I was there when I made the suggestion to incorporate Hot Topics. I was in fact the topic creator and I was redirecting to this forum (http://www.metroidmetal.com/ridley/search.php?search_id=active_topics&sid=8077035d0bd89c8adac70b362a892e9f), which had an ''Active topics'' feature extremely similar to Hot Topics and it's present in the front page of the said forum. Maybe it was a factor that decided you to incorporate something similar to the site, but I'm just saying here. The community is just trying to help.

Other than that, I like the new Recent Posts page. A lot better to follow the new number of posts in threads I visited and stuff.

*EDIT: Wait, I found the thread: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=55853&page=1&str=1481242045#14 . Anyways, glad it got implemented.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

mmm in Opera (I don't know  if this happens in other browsers) when I put the mouse in the points thing of the profile (in the mod history too) the div appears behind the ads, I don't know if I explained myself...?
