Does anyone know why Nintendo isn't releasing any SNES games that made use of the Super FX or Super FX 2 chips to Wii Virtual Console? The most famous of these games are Star Fox, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and the SNES version of Doom. I know that in the early days of SNES emulation there were difficulties emulating Super FX games but one would think that Nintendo's in-house staff would be able to develop a solution easily.

They may not have written an emulator for the SuperFX. The Wii has enough power, but there is still time needed to make the emulator, and they may not consider it worth it for 7 (NTSC) games at most. (Dirt Trax for example, isn't going to sell as it's primary selling point was the use of SuperFX, which doesn't stand up to even mid 90's 3D.)

there's always PC emulators i guess if you really want ;)

You can also emulate them on the Wii if you are willing to risk homebrew.

is there a Wii emulator that uses the wiimote + nunchck as a controller? i hate that whenever i wanna play a Vc game i have to get near my TV and use a gamecube controller (not wireless)

that's the reason i'd rather play SMB1/SMB3 instead of SMW on VC, it only needs a wiimote

Do like me and grab a classic controller (or try to find a Wavebird)!  They're pretty cheap and that new re-design is pretty sexy.

Yes, assuming you have an SD card and the homebrew channel installed, you can use the Wiimote / Nunchuk for SNES in an emulator. I have a Classic Controller so I have no idea how well it works, only that it does. Do the VGChartz site rules allow linking to non piracy homebrew or not?

^^ nevermind, i just remembered how the nunchuck doesn't have a D-pad, and how i tried playing SMW with an analogue stick - didn't work too well

i guess i'll stick to my GC controller, not gonna buy a classic controller for just one VC game, already have too much wii controllers/stuff anyways

Well I wanna see Yoshi's Island as I never played it back in the day. But I think Nintendo is holding back most of its first party titles so it has something new for the next console. If they give us all their first party titles now their will be no incentive to download VC content on the next console and Nintendo doesn't want that!

Now that you mention it... I want my dose of Stunt Race FX!
