Sega deserved to have it sell poorly. Poor PS3 port, poor sales... although the sales weren't really bad unless they had huge expectations (not sure, it doesn't look like a high budget game, does it?).

I was really looking forward buying Bayonetta, but unless I get a X360 someday, I won't, because I refuse to pay for the PS3 version as it is. I am quite mad at Sega for this...

They patched the PS3 version to run as well as the 360 version, I hear.

On-topic, I think Bayonetta has done very well for itself. I'm sure SEGA is pleased.

But guys the "Bayonetta vs. Other Action Games" argument should go in its own thread.

Thats not really true,  sure it runs a little smoother than before, and doesnt have the horrible loading.  But the amount of screen tearing and bad textures are horrible compared to the 360 version.  I should have bought that version instead,  damn my love for my trophies

I dont think Sega deserved to have it sell badly, the port wasnt that bad, i felt it was just the loading that was getting on my nerves. i've had PS exclusives Heavy Rain and God of War 3 freeze on me twice, and Bayo hasnt frozen once, and i didnt notice the screen tearing as much as people say.

the game did deserve to sell better though, it so much more fun that the DMC games and leaps and bounds above GOW3 and Dantes Inferno.

Well I completely disagree.  In fact if anything Bayonetta is one of the biggest dissappointments this gen for me.  I dont think any game is leaps and bounds above God of War III in anything it does.  And to say so is a little ridiculous IMO.

Yeah thats fair enough, i suppose we're both entitled to our own opinions. i think it was better than GOW3 because the action was faster, and the enemy lock system was more accurate. the move sets was more strategtic, instead of the good old Plume of Promethesus (sqaure, sqaure, triangle). errm i loved how you would have to dodge at the last possible moment to slow down time and counter with a massive wicked weave.

and of course the centerpiece of the comabt was the 'dodge offset', where you hold your combo when you dodge an enemy. just so much innovation on every level, i felt the combat was intense, where as i felt GOW was just pressing the same sequence of buttons as in the previous games, adding very little innovation. and the weapons wernt that varried. this is all my opinion, but GOW did have some badass boss fights and i think the quick time events were much better than Bayo, but when it comes down to cold hard action, Bayo wins imo.

I love how everyone mentions this when talking about God of War combos, but I am actually doing the same thing in Bayonetta.   I have used the same combo about 200 plus times already (5x Triangle),  and I have made it to level 5 already without much difficulty.   Why am I doing it?  I am doing it because I am using the same lack of imagination that everyone that has ever made the same comment you did.  So how is that for more strategic combo move set?

I also wouldnt say that the combo is innovative, all that ends up happening is you spam witch time and use the best combo (5x Triangle), rinse repeat.   Thats not innovation

5x triangle with whihch weapon combination? It's not the most effective for any of them, but I'm curious.

Keep playing. You have options considerably better than Witch Time as time goes on, and when you play long enough they just take it away from you.

It could have sold a lot better; it wasn't advertised correctly.

Actually in Bayonetta defense the one viable combo is an unfortunate biproduct of the garbage PS3 version, the game is such a mess that trying any other combo is damn near impossible.  Honestly trade the PS3 version in get the xbox version and you may have a different opinion of the game, still even the xbox version is not better than GOW 3.

Hmm, well its more strategtic because you study your oponment and attack in relation to the enemy's movements. aerial combat puts a massive emphasis on juggling your enemy using different atacks and weapons. in GOW you just do area based damage, roll left or right, and then repeat, theres been no evolution of that since the last 3 games.

errm, fair enough if you dont like witch time, the true innovate is dodge offset. you wont master that after the game (if you finish). and it takes the action to an extreme, you'll be moving faster than you can think, the combat feels inate and you'll be fighting with your instincts.

GOW3 hasnt changed much in the series, just bigger and better set peices, when the credits roll its over. in Bayo when the credits roll, you've only just started the game. theres so many costumes, weapons, alfheim portals and combat options left to explore. impossible mode is as it sounds.

theres so much depth in the combat, triangle x5 is mediocure, the key is wicked weaves. theres probabily some youtube vids with some crazy japanese gamers playing on impossible not getting hit and hitting a new record time. that will show you how much depth there. i have the platinum on both and IMO GOW3 isnt a scratch on Bayo.

Having had the pleasure of playing both Bayo and GOWIII. I have to say that I found Bayo more fun to play, but GOW superior almost all other aspects. GOW had some really epic moments, and stunning graphics (though I havent played Bayo to the end yet).

But I think its pretty close and to most people will come down to personal preference. Had it been the 360 version of Bayo I had, it might possibly have just gained the edge over GOW.

The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.

The Katana, but it doesnt matter if there is one more effective or not,  there are more effective combos in God of War III than The Plume of Promethesus,  but that doesnt stop people from being ignorant about it.
