Forums - General Discussion - I need a good Adblocker, ideas?

Okay, so this has started to annoy me so much, that I honestly couldn't care less if the website makes or loses money off these bloody adverts...

I'd like someone to recommend me a good adblocker to shut these things up, since I can't even listen to music and browse the site at the same time anymore, it's been like it for a week and seriously, nothing has happened to stop this.

If anyone tries to be smart and says "Turn your speakers off", how about shut up and get out of this thread because seriously, I don't have time for your smart ass remarks...

Okay, suggestions please?

Well, the question will come up as to which browser you're using. Expect some people to try to convert you to Firefox if you're not using it. However, between this site and another using more voiced ads, I just got AdBlockIE, and while it doesn't block a lot of ads, it at least got the voiced ads.

Well I'm using the latest version of Opera 10 anyways, and there's no way anyone will convert me to Firefox, I dislike it, lol...

I would give you suggestions but i hear it's a bannable offence. I would suggest checking out google.

All of my adverts are now muted by default.. I assumed this had something to do with admin changing something, maybe I'm just lucky.

Anyway, if you're using Opera, just whack F12 and click on "disable plugins" and it will change the preferences on VGC so that no plugins are used. This means that the flash adverts will be replaced with static ones. If you don't want to disable Flash for VGC (as some of the tools and widgets currently use Flash), right click -> block content, will allow you to instantly kill any advert that is causing particular annoyance, whilst keeping all of the rest of the adverts running.

You don't have to adblock the whole thing. The site for me is white listed and then I pick and choose which ads to block. You know, the sound ones, or the really flashing ones, or the Evony ones, etc. I leave the normal ads alone and sometimes click on them.

However I do run noscript since I'd rather not give up security so someone else can make money, I'm sorry but that's where I draw the line. Unless the site gives me the money for a new computer free of viruses. Then I will even open up my firewall and everything for them.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.
