It's funny how the people who want to distinguish a divide between "hardcore" and "casual" are the ones that are too cool for Mega Man when they're 15. They wouldn't know a hard game from a core game.

point is megaman IS a kids game. cod may not be uber mature, but you do need to be mature to buy it.

I agree with this somewhat. One example of a hardcore gamer  to me is one who plays a racing sim with a wheel while most console gamers will want play with some kind of aid (FM 3 play back) with a controller. Most  of today's fps appeals to a wider audience which has stuff like autoheal with unlimited lives. I rememeber when some fps you had to manger your health and ammo.  You used to have to get a Game Shark to get unlimited lives.(or at least you had to restart the level)

 A hardcore gamers like to play both hardcore and casual games while the more casual gamer will not have the heart to play more hardcore games. There is nothing wrong with Megaman in my book but doesn't seem to be anything hardcore about it.

I am working on building community with those who are into non-hardcore gaming (see CADERS link below), like the said "casual" games and retro stuff, because an advantage of this, is that it should filter out the intolerant crowd who doesn't appreciate anything except what supposedly has a bunch of gore in it...  I recall reading one post on a basketball forum where the poster goes off and says how adults play real games, that involve shooting people, and so on.  How come there seemes to be an inverse between claims that stuff is mature/adult and the people claiming it not acting that way?  This talk has people then arguing how they also like MadWorld, etc... on the Wii.

There is things to be said about older games that were both demanding AND accessible.  Ahh, the days of the arcades.  Those days were days when games had to reach a broad enough audience.

and yes i dissed his game but I call it like dat cuz I think its easy if he would've dissed the game

bcuz it was 2d 16 bit or for the story I would've just told him shut up

but he said it was for kids when kids game aren't as deep as mega man bcuz even when I was kid I couldnt finish 1/6 of it

plus the game is probably just disguise for kids but trust me the only mega man game aim at kids are probably the starfoce and nt

series cuz I dont think capcom would release the new 8 bit retro games on psn and wiiware to attract kids 

hardcore and csual mean nothing these days, SMG2 is apparantly really hard, I'd associate that with hardcore, but then COD MW2 is apparantly casual?

The real hardcore is probably unknown cult like PC games, and the real casual is imaginbabiez. Everything inbetween is just .. a game.
