Forums - Sales Discussion - NA Wii Demand

Is out of control.

I work at Radioshack, for those unfamiliar its national electronic chain. Recently RS has started to get into the Video Game market. We sell, DS, Ps2 and xbox 360.  So far we have yet to ever get a single shipment of Wiis.

We sell around 2 xbox 360s a week.  I've never seen anyone purchase a ps2 and we dont even carry ps3s. The shocking thing to me is everysingle day people call and ask in store if we have any wiis. The demand is insane. Expect the wii numbers to hit numbers never yet before seen. =0

I know dude, when the times hit and Nintendo makes alot of Wii's. You can expect sales to most likely be 200k or more weekly!!!

Radio shack sucks. I used to work there . That said, Radio shack may not be getting Wii shippments but everyone else is. Every BBY within a 100 mile radious of me has between 80-120 per store.

@elendar

It's nice to hear that RS is selling video games again.

They were invovled at the beginning selling cartridges through the classic generation and still had stock of old stuff (such as Atari 7800) in the mid-1990s.

Is it just hardware -- or do they have software again as well? Also, do they still have all the "cheesy" add-on "kits" (third-party unique controllers, cartridge holders, etc.).

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

It's collosal. I've really never seen such high demand for Wii. Man if only they could increase their shipments haha. Just impossible. They could have easily sold 10-15 million in their first year and 2 months in the Americas alone. Just how huge demand is. It never died at all here.

@ Mike We have a sell games as well, although its a small selection. Controllers, xboxlive cards, etc. Yes we do sell cheesy add on stuff. Want to turn your wii controller into a pretend tennis racket? We can help!

I work at a Zellers in Canada, and the demand is just crazy. In my last 5 shifts or so, I've got a flurry of calls for video game systems. Here's how they stack up.

PS3: 0
PSP: 0
360: 0
DS: 2-3
Wii: 30-40

We are putting 18 on the shelves tomorrow, seeing as it's in our flyer. I get to work that shift alone. It's not going to be fun. I'm expecting quite the line, as we've been telling people we're getting them on Saturday morning.

Yeah, NA won't get tired of the Wii anytime soon. Maybe Summer '08 demand will actually "die" down.

Then Nintendo will announce a price cut.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

wii demand wont die it will get bigger
