Forums - Nintendo Discussion - 3 Reasons Why Super Mario Galaxy 2 Doesn't Deserve 10s

Most people think the removal of the hub world is an improvement. And is one of his three big complaints about the toad giving you pointless letters? Really? So that's two down.

Some things are recycled, yes. It's a direct sequel, DURRR. Verdict: damage control. Move on.

Speaking of which, how are you enjoying the game so far?

EDIT: Didn't mean to open old wounds. Forgot you were from Austrailia. Forgive me.

Nintendo is abandoning its fans!
Nintendo just cuts and pastes and rehashes!

I've only played the first world, and it's already an improvement over Galaxy. It's faster. I can go level to level to level without wasting any time. That is what I wanted.

And it's obvious why it's getting 10/10 scores. This is the first time Nintendo has given reviewers exactly what they wanted: a big budget sequel with more levels and weapons.

I saw no article like this when GTAIV got all the perfect 10's.

Becauuse GTA 4 wasn't made by NIntendo.

No. I just think people are more wary of 10's because of the b.s. metascore that GTA4 got.

I think some people just don't like to see a Wii game as GOTY.

Hey, Nintendo fans would be livid if Mass Effect or God of War won, at least the fanboys.  Same deal.  And seeing as the industry largely is against Nintendo, are you surprised that a place like this would be? The one place where Ninty isn't going to get the universal respect they get is on the internetz, and the one group who doesnt universally respect them are largely people who populate sites like this.  It's funny that Ninty fans care so much given how well the company is doing regardless.

I just got to World 3... and WOW, there's so much creativity it's hard to take in!

Although they interrupt you way too many times when showing you things, although they're kinda necessary, it broke my momentum a few times.

SMG2 music is so sexy why the hell are you complaining about that 75% of it was in previous mario games? even though they weren't, less than 20% I would say, plus once you listen to one of the amazing musit you would be too much in love to diss it ;)

Buying in 2015: Captain toad: treasure tracker,

mario maker

new 3ds

yoshi woolly world

zelda U

majora's mask 3d

...so i will admit that i havent played the entire game yet but all the boses that i have played, play NOTHING like the bosses in the first galaxy..

hello how are you.

There was a level in the first world, I think it was the Flip-Top Galaxy, that was amazing. The first Galaxy didn't start to get that crazy for at least 30 stars. Galaxy 2 throws the crazy levels right at you at the beginning.

I think losing the hub world was awesome. That, along with the level design, make me feel like this game is a great balance between 3-D Mario and 2-D Mario. It's not as exploration-based now. It's more like each level is a really wacky obstacle course, and you just have to survive until you get to the end, like New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Just now you find a star instead of a flagpole.

It's funny how not a single complaint is about the gameplay or level design. He just complains "it's all the same" and then "it's too different" and then "they put all the levels in a row so you could select them faster, but I still miss Mario 64's castle." I think GTA4 dropped more features than Galaxy 2, and those were everybody's favorite features, not something that was just in the way like a hub world.
