Forums - Nintendo Discussion - 3 Reasons Why Super Mario Galaxy 2 Doesn't Deserve 10s

What this guy is doing is making a huge deal out of things that aren't very important. For example, he complains that the map for selecting levels is not exciting. First of all, WHO CARES? The map is not the important part of the game, the GAMEPLAY is the important part. If the map was the exact same as it was in SMG 1, I'm sure he would've said "Oh my gosh, the map is the exact same as it was in the first game, why can't they change it? I don't want to choose my levels the same way I did in Galaxy 1, I want some thing new!!"

I actually prefer the simply linear map that Galaxy 2 has to the overworld "hub" of Galaxy 1. It cuts all the extra unnecessary BS and is far easier and quicker to navigate. It is more true to NSMB Wii, and of course, the other 2D Mario games, which is a major plus in my book.

Anyway, the guy is obviously nit picking based on what his arguments are against it. If you really wanted to, you could find something to nitpick about ANY great game. People can be creative when they want to hate something, in that they create minor issues to dwell on. He obviously came into it WANTING to hate Galaxy 2 before playing it, and NOTHING in the game would have convinced him otherwise.

In the end, this game will probably end up in the top 3 rankings in gamerankings, maybe even become the highest scored game of all time, not to mention will sell a good 8 million + copies. So this guy, and others who seem to have irrational hatred for this game, will only end up looking like the idiots in the end..

So you are already calling it GOTY with games like ME2 and GOW3 already out and also upcoming games like Fallout New Vegas, Metroid other M and Halo Reach? And still you wont give it a 10? Its great game indeed definitely GOTY material, even though i wouldn't call it that yet. But if you don't think this game deserves a 10 then you shouldn't already call it GOTY. It deserves a 10 in my book btw.

Mario Galaxy 2 Deserve 10/10 sure.

Best Videogame ever i seen.

You wouldn't lower the score on the game for any of the reasons mentioned in the original post. That's like saying, Zelda should lose 1 point because Link only as access to green clothing like in the last game.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

If I weren't on my Wii right now, I'd post the scene from "Unforgiven".........

-Gene Hackman: I don't deserve this."

-Clint Eastwood: "Deserve? Deserve's got nothin' to do with it."

Ok, after playing through the first 18 stars of the game, I can say with confidence that this game so far is indeed a 10/10 calibur game. Litterally EVERY star so far is achieved in a unique way and the gameplay seems to stay fresh throughout as they're constantly throwing new things at you. And despite being all completely different, they are all very fun in their own way.

(*POSSIBLE SPOILERS?*) You have a traditional Mario get from start to finish level, you have a Yoshi level, an underwater, a flying level, new powerups, Yoshi running around after eating a hot pepper, 2D levels, gravity change, score challenges.. All this variety and I'm barely in to the game! The gameplay ideas incorporated within just seem endless, and there is always so much going on, but not to the point of being overwhelming.

I was initially a bit skeptical of having ANOTHER Mario Galaxy that seemed to use the same formula. But with all the variance in level designs, player mechanics, and styles throughout, I can see why they would want to make another one. It's really like a whole new game, or rather, multiple new and different games in one.

Of course, asthetically the game is very pleasing and the music superb. The game just has a charm and "feel good" vibe to it that I don't get from most games. Oh, and of course there is Yoshi, who just kicks ass :D

I wouldn't give it a ten, if only because I think SM64 and SMS are better. :P

I'd give it around a 9.5, and I do like it better than SMG1.

Gee, great, >_> thanks...... I was JUST about to watch Unforgiven.

You, sir, are unforgiven.......

........  Okay, I kid. (lol, so lame)

It s not the first time Nintendo (or other company) do this. They already did the same with Ocarina of time - Majora's Mask transition, in sme parts they made copy-paste.

Definately game of the year but it wont win that tiotle because the title will go to a FPS as the voters are all "hardcore" sofa buds who really dont know anything about gaming juts milking money with over hype
