Will we see more full 1080p native games in ps3 future?

Yes 80 33.90%

No 38 16.10%

If developers pull their socks up 34 14.41%

Ps3 can't handle it 57 24.15%

Ps3 can handle it. 12 5.08%

If more spu power is used. 14 5.93%

Total:235

There is difference beetween 1080p and 720p to the eye, but it's not a great one, excpecially if you doesn't have a really big screen; so developers evenly decide to use Ps3 hardwere resources in other ways rather than rendering at an higher resolution, I always played my Ps3 on a 32" screen, and 720p look like good enough on it. (I also tried some games at 1080p using PC)

No.

PS3 isn't powerful enough to produce better 1080P graphics than 360 at 720P. Or even the same.

Yeah, I'm sure the fanboys dont want to hear that, but oh well it's the truth.

The proof is in the pudding, if it was, there would be lots of PS3 games at 1080P right now. Instead there's hardly any.

And GT5 isn't 1080P btw, before anybody brings that up. It's 1280X1080. It's nicely better than 720P, but it ISNT 1080P.

Also guy above me, God of War 3 isn't 60 FPS, it varies between 30-60 FPS. http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/digitalfoundry-god-of-war-3-demo-vs-final-game?size=hd

Oh, the reason I bring up 360 is that's really the competition here.

You can have 1080P games whenever you want. Just like you can have 60 FPS games whenever you want. Both simply entail graphical sacrificies.

The main thing that probably keeps the HD twins from more 1080P games, is the need to compete with each other graphically. If there was only one HD console, competing with the Wii, you might see more 1080P games.

You might not though, because games could still have better effects, shaders etc at 720P. It's a tradeoff.

After reading this entire thread....

first of all.. none of you know whether or not GRAN TURISMO 5 WILL RUN AT 1080P or at a resolution similar to GT5 PROLOGUE which did run at 1280X1080 resolution. Latest in game screens show a 1920X1080 resolution.. I say its more than likely the game will be native 1080p. The game also runs at a constant 60fps, and will feature 3D/PSMOVE/HEAD TRACKING technology.

So before all of you claim to know everything, GT5 has not been confirmed to run at 1280X1080 or native 1080p..

On another note, for those saying "only PSN games or those that require little graphics detail run at native 1080p" well then I guess this will prove you wrong:

Tekken 5 Dark Ressurection (screenshot) = 1920x1080 (no AA), not always?
Wipeout HD = dynamic-framerate-dependent 1080p framebuffer (1280x1080 to 1920x1080)
High Velocity Bowling = 1920x1080 (no AA)
Cars Mater-National = 1280x720 (QAA), 1920x1080 (QAA)
Fifa Street 3 = 1920x1080 (no AA)
Full Auto 2 (demo) = 1920x1080 (4x AA)
GT5 Prologue (demo) = 1080p mode is 1280x1080 (2xAA) in-game while the garage/pit/showrooms are 1920x1080 with no AA. 720p mode is 1280x720 (4xAA)
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (screenshot) = 1920x1080 (no AA)
NBA07 (demo) = 1920x1080 (no AA)
NBA08 (demo) = 1920x1080 (no AA)
NBA Street Home court (screenshot) = 1920x1080 (no AA)
Ridge Racer 7 (demo) = 1920x1080 (no AA)
Virtua Tennis 3 (demo) = 1920x1080 (2x AA)
World Series Of Poker 2008 = 1920x1080 (2xAA)
MLB 09:The show = 1920X1080(2XAA)

I believe GOD OF WAR III could have been native 1080p resolution, since the game runs at average around 40-45fps.. it would have likely dropped to 25-30fps, but still could have run at 1080p resolution..

guys you already have GT5?!WOOOW.Please sell me your copy....
Let's say it's clearly.1080p isn't important. If it was than every game would be in 1080p with graphic cuts to make it fluid.Textures, details, interactions with environment, physics, number of objects on screen...all are much more important than 1080p.Even on PS4 you will be able to make better graphics in 720p than 1080p.

Gran Turismo 5 will run in native 1080p. It might not be "true" 1080p, but it's probably the best we get this generation.

Wait... You're basically saying that Native 1080p may not be "true" 1080p?

Hum... as far as I know, native 1080p is 1920x1080 pixels.  GT5 runs at a native 1280x1080.  Which isn't 1080p by any strech possible.

You clearly don't make any sense.

GT5 resolution is unknown

GT5 Prologue runs at 1280x1080

1080 stands for vertical resolution while the P stand for progressive. Often people  assumes 1080p is widescreen. 1280X1080 is 1080p in 5:4 format, SD runs in 4:3 format, Widescreen is 16:9 format.

It even more confusing when it comes to 720p as most so called 720p HDTV has  1366X768 resolution.

It's more correct to say GT5 is not in widescreen yet in 1080p.

There is also a problem with designing games to run in 1080p and widescreen when it comes playing the games on SDTV. There are still a lot of people gaming on SDTV, probably more than those who are with 1080p HDTV. 720p is ithe ideal middle between the two.

A lot of people don't buy this. Not because they're right, but because they mistake 1080p for the marketing term "Full HD."

But yes, technically any native signal with 1080 lines of vertical resolution generated at 60 fields per second (progressive scan) is 1080p, regardless of horizontal resolution.
