crytek use black magic on their games (jking) they got crysis 2 looking better with less requirements. Apparently the ps3 version is being developed alongside the pc version. One of the developers said there were NO compromises in the ps3 version. It may be 1080p but we don't know yet. I think it's stupid of sony and microsoft to use such minimal memory on their console. Remember ps2 only started to show its full potential in 2005 when it was five. And hit max in 2007 when it was seven. Maybe the ps3 will do similar. It's still only young. only 3 years old.

Lots of 1080p games to come, but very few will be headline titles. its not necessary, 720p looks just as good and allows for more effects. There is no situation, ever where 1080p made a difference over 720p in a video game.

Did you yourself not say "You obviously don't understand it" when in fact you clearly have a very limited knowledge on GPUs? Arguing about something you know little of is trolling, and my last post was rehtorical so not sure why you answered it, only to ironically label me a troll....

In short, there's a lot more to do with graphics then compression,  a hell of a lot more. 

The lack of 1080p games with Gow3 style graphics isn't due to power utilization, its simply because the RSX gpu doesn't have the fillrate for it (~4GPixel/sec). Alot of post processing effects have been moved to the CPU (Spe programs) to get around burning the fillrate on post processing, but that still produces enough latency to be annoying and I'm sure there are other issues that I can't think of at the top of my head (DMA read/write limitations from SPE cores etc).

Given that the games that are 720p look absolutely awesome considering the hardware, I'm happy if they stay put.

I've already gave  an example (racing) where 1080p makes a clear difference. Even PC Nascar racing 2003  looks  better in 1080p than 720p which has  dated graphics. (I still play this once in a while) Any game where you are often looking in the distance helps to run in 1080p.

  Resolution and  drawing distance goes hand to hand when it comes to gaming.

I remember articles in 07 which claimed the ps3's cell could render 1080p without gpu lol. At first we get games like resistance fall of man. Ok graphics. FOUR years later we get god of war 3. 720p 60fps. Who knows what will happen in the future. And according to killzone developer they could have gone 1080p with killzone 3 but chose not to because it's a decision between more effects and crispness. Maybe some games look better in 1080p some not.
