Forums - Sales Discussion - More ipads sold per week than all mac models put together

People really do confuse the cost of stuff with value. See, the PS3 cost $800 at launch and it never sold this well because people didn't value it that much. The iPad cost under $300 at launch to produce and it sells due to being of higher value to them. The iPad is a unique item and apple has a monopoly on this class of gadget. This means they can charge closer to what people value the experience at rather than using a cost+ model and pricing it relative to how much they cost to produce.

That's a lot, nice job Apple, didn't think it'd do so well, wow!

But... 'Drive Sony out of the handheld market'?

Eh? With the iPad? It's not even a handheld. :s

I beg to differ. It is designed to be used whilst held aloft in a person's hands, just as the ds and psp are, but very different to a laptop or desktop, which are supported by one's lap or desk respectively

Apple is now the most valuable technology company in the world. As of today.

You can read about it here.

But don't worry guys, people who enjoy Apple products will wake up to the fact that they don't actually like them very soon.

What level of difficulty do you play Civ IV at?

Anyway, tell me WHEN!! Im scared that the whole world will be engulfed by people buying stuff only because their friends are getting it. Oh but only because I want them to buy X companies product because I am so much smarter...

Has Apple ever had a stock split? That is an insane price per stock, $244 versus Microsofts $25, lol

Give google another 5 years at the most and they will pass them both :P

also apple knows that software creates the value and their device come out with great software but sony come out with nothing, and asking people twice what the competition was asking, a competition that offered much more software.

Google's tablet will trounce this closed platform massive ripoff. It should be AT MOST $300 for the base model.

Kinda like how they were going to give away the Nexus One for next to nothing, and change the cell phone landscape as we know it?
The price that the market is willing to bear is being set. I wouldn't expect devices of this style to drop much below $400 for at least a year or so.Of course, if Google doesn't have a response ready in the next 18 months, you might very well be right, but at that point, will it matter?

Pretty much what you said as well. I was trying to keep it simple but yeah, its also the fact that the experience for the user is mature out of the box vs how many years did people actually have to wait for compelling software, supporting accessories like HDTVs and for them to sort out the rather bleak feature set of PSN at launch.
