Forums - Sales Discussion - Total Software Sold By Platform

I'm sure this is around here somewhere, but damned if I can find it :(

Anyway, can someone point me to the total software sales across all three, current-gen, platforms?

Thanks :)

Not exactly sure about this, but if you go here you can look at the bottom to see the total for each console specifically but only with 500 total per page so you would have to add the totals from each additional page together. Not sure any other way to see them, but there could be an easier way.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

Wii - 480 million
PS3 - 241 million
360 - 350 million

Thanks, that'll do :)

That is quite interesting I wonder how the PS3 will fare by the end of its life cycle.

I am no good at grammar =)

DAMN IT! This EP is such a good idea

Software numbers are very estimated after the first couple weeks especially. Hard to track all those catalog titles. But those numbers scottie posted give you an idea. Especially hard when we will start getting more on more downloadables of the old catalog games, like the 360 on demand games, for example, or Warhawk/Burnout Paradise etc. (Not that those numbers are huge compared to the hundreds of millions yet.)

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

Thanks fasty, I probably should have explained that. Although after a title has been out long enough, then VGChartz estimates are modified by shipment figures so the accuracy is often quite good. However, a lot of games aren't tracked in others at all.

Total Wii shipments as of May 6th are 544 million, and I doubt the shipped vs sold argument is enough to explain the difference, so add maybe 10 million onto the Wii number, and a similar proportion to the other consoles (at a guess, ioi or any of the other tracking staff would know better)

Does Wii not have the most online sales?  You think Xbox 360 has more online sales than Wii?  Maybe.  PS3 is likely a distant 3rd.

You mean digital releases?  VC+WW > XBLA > PSN

vgchartz doesn't have any serious estimation of worldwide software numbers and neither has anybody else except the software sellers themselves (Sony, MS, Nintedo)... vg software estimations are even less reliable than the hardware ones.

Sony recently stated in their official reports they sold more software on PS3 than MS did on 360 in the last fiscal year. That's all what we know for sure until now. PS3 > 360 now in software sales
