Forums - Sony Discussion - New PSN XMB coming soon!?

CheapyD: “I’ve heard that the Sony PS3 is getting a completely redesigned XrossMediaBar. Like totally new, not just like new columns and stuff like – totally redone.

Don't hold your breath, but if they did it would be a stupid idea... if it ain't broke...

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

But it is rather broke.  Super slow, confusing for noobs, content could be organized better.  I'd love to see a vastly refined and faster loading XMB!

I seriously hope not...

What are you talking about XMB is easy to use. Everything is organized well, I was new to it all and found everything fast. It also doesn't seem slow to me. Plus didnt it win an award and thats why sony is using it in more of their stuff.

I have no clue about any award.  All I know is that there is no reason for it to take 5 seconds or so to load all my information after I choose a column.  It is especially slow when pulling it up while in a game.  As for content being organized better, things like being able to customize your status message and your profile need to be easier to find, and the settings for audio, video, etc. need to have some more noob friendly options.  I know my settings just fine and can change from optical to HDMI audio and all those other settings, but from people who don't know better they can end up without sound or with incorrect video settings.

The 360 dashboard, for example is instant when choosing rows/columns and even when pulling it up during a game.

The Playstation Store could use a facelift but leave the XMB alone.

I have no clue about any reward.

I always found the 360 dashboard confusing, but whatever. I guess I don't play a lot so I don't notice how slow it is because it doesn't make me mad or anything. Before there wasn't any info under things before for what things did but now there is. I think everything is easy to follow. People have all sorts of different opinions and this is one of them.

I like how the 360 has a sub-menu that you can pull up, while playing a game, when you press the center button. In my opinion, the PS3 could benefit from a quicker, smaller menu instead of loading the entire thing all at once.
