Forums - Sales Discussion - Does anyone think PS3 can realistically get to second place?

@ nightsurge

That was Sony, I believe. You know, with all those lame charts claiming people HAD to buy all this extra stuff to show the 360 was more expensive than their $600 machine.

They didn't say you have to.

That chart is rather informative. The 499 dollar PS3 came with a default harddrive, Blu-Ray drive, Wi-Fi built-in, BlueTooth, free online gaming and HDMI out of the box.

Many 360 owners upgraded to a new 360 just for HDMI. There are people who didn't realize the 360 does not have WiFi, some go like "WTF, even my DS has WiFi built-in, how much did you say WiFi for the 360 costs? Double WTF..."

Obviously quite a few people care about the system. That line was pure trolling/flame bait.

Not that many. Considering all the anticipated exclusives Microsoft bought for Japan, the 360 performed quite miserably in Japan. That´s my opinion, that´s not trolling. Many would consider this to be a fact.

Milo presentations were not faked.

Sorry, but the original demo was faked. What was shown was scripted and not revolutionary as claimed.

It's more than doubled Xbox 1 sales.  Meanwhile PS3's sold about a third PS2 did over the same period....

Obviously the demo part that was a recorded video was scripted.  It was a recorded video!  It probably had many practice shoots until they got the final version done.  The demos that were live for all press events were not scripted and all the press said it worked as promised.

That chart isn't informative at all, either.  Also, you got something else wrong.  The PS3 $500 model didn't have WiFi either.

You still haven't posted any links or anything to show just how MS was spreading propoganda and lies about competitors....

So please, take your misinformation elsewhere.

@jarrod - exactly.  So I guess not many people care about the PS3....

And even with all those anticipated exclusives Sony bought for Japan (Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Yakuza, etc). ;)

What big Japanese XBox 1 exclusives did Microsoft buy compared to the 360?

My mistake, however the 599 dollar PS3 was more popular due to its extra such as bigger harddrive and card readers.

So I guess Sony is the king of under delivering and breaking promises this generation.  I mean they stripped us of our backwards compatibility that came in launch units, took away our card readers and extra USB ports, stripped away OtherOS.  That's not a company that is very dedicated to the consumer.  Not to mention they have offered no exteneded warranty for YLOD repairs which seem to effect almost every launch unit within 3 years or so.

WOW @ some ppl in here....

I say certain ppl here are just scared to face the fact that there is a chance for it can happen.

Extended warranty only exists on the 360 due to miserable built quality. It also does not cover all kinds of failures.

It was clear those chips had to go eventually, any tech enthusiast could tell you this.

took away our card readers

It was a nice extra, not key functionality. You can still buy an external solution (most however won't).

stripped away OtherOS

Sad, but understandable. Didn't know you were such a big fan of this feature?
