Forums - Sales Discussion - Does anyone think PS3 can realistically get to second place?

so now I see the ps3 only 5 million less WORLD WIDE....(caught up big time and remember they released a year later)

I see that the ps3 is winning in japan and winning in europe in console sales

With the PS3 supplies coming better on with them having a major E3 it seems ( MS is coming hard as well)

does anyone really think the PS3 will be no.2 this generation?

The real question is does anyone think it won't. The majority of the people on this site believe it will surpass 360 sometime within the next year or two.

It's possible

But this generation ends in Q4 of this year. How can the PS3 get past the Xbox 360 in that time?!

Tease.

Ends in Q4 this year?  Are you high...It's not over until all three cease to be manufactured!  Yes PS2 is still last generation and selling but we know that won hands down lol!

Until a new home console releases its only fair to say we are still in the 7th generation of games, regardless of the 3DS. I do think it would be fair to say the 3DS will bring the 8th generation to handheld gamers. But like I said until we see a new home console, us console gamers are still in the 7th generation of videogames.

Can it get to second place? Maybe
I don't think it can overtake the 360 weekly in America, but its boosts from Others & Japan could give it some headway. Also, a drop to $200 could shake things up, but I don't see that coming for another year.

In terms of how this gen is really going, it doesn't matter, but it is an ego booster, that will no doubt get people riled up.

I don't think Move will do much at all.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Natal is the deciding point.  If Natal lives up to the hype, then Sony will fall further behind.

The only reason that it is as close as it is now is that lots of folks are buying the PS3 as a bluRay machine that also plays games.

thats not what software sales have been saying recently " for people who only buy the ps3 for a blu ray and on the side to play games"

Thats a very ignorant way to look at it, looking past the fact that the PS3 has some of the best games around, and free online play.

I'm sure BluRay plays a big factor in some peoples' decision on which console to get. But that is certainly not the ONLY reason the PS3 is selling.
