Forums - Website Topics - Why is VGChartz your favorite gaming site?

Well, it's going through a bit of a drought at the moment. But at its peak:

-Intelligent members, and a low proportion of trolls

-What trolls exist are GOOD at trolling.

-Fair and interesting moderation

-Sales, when not entirely predictable, are fun to follow.

-Varied threads and discussions

-The occasional epic thread.

Pretty much none of these are true at the moment.

It's actually not my favorite gaming site.

-The layout is clunky and full of Ads. It is a bit annoying that if you click anywhere on the background it takes you to an advertisement for those shirts which aren't that good in my opinion

Blame people who use Adblock. Fewer people view ads, those who do view ads see more ads. More people get sick of ads and use Adblock. It's a self-perpetuating cycle. And yes, this is somewhat annoying.

-A lot of the news article are ripped straight from sites like N4G and aren't really news when they're uploaded.

Er...so? How do you expect us to get news? You want me to fly across the Atlantic and interview some low-ranking employee of a major publisher so that they can skillfully avoid every question I ask? That's not news, it's filler. Most real news comes from official announcements, and where better to get these than a site which brings them all together?

-Too many redundant threads are made. At some points you have the sales on the right of the page, a thread for U.S., Others, Japan and Worldwide discussing the sales. And then a news article with a round up.

Sales on the right of the page- brief overview of sales.

Sales roundup article- Source and ioi commenting on the sales

Sales threads- places to properly discuss the sales.

All are necessary.

-If you're looking at a page not logged in and log in it doesn't take you back to the page.

Copy and paste the URL. Or better yet, log in when you first browse to the site.

Having said that, I do like this site. I enjoy looking at the estimated sales and the estimated preorders. I think it is interesting and fun to follow.

Only the first one is a real fault.

The site is a lot more user-friendly than others I have been to, especially the forums.

Good point this site has some of the best users on the internet.

The majority of the community is fantastic.

Way to go majority!!!

At the moment, I'm kinda unsure whether I prefer VGC or Screwattack. While the g1 community is pretty awesome, it's still not as troll-free as VGC. Screwattack has all kinds of awesome stuff, like Metal Gear Ben, Out of the Box, The Armory, Talking Classics, The Game Overthinker etc.
I'd like to give an honorary mention to GT, though. The website itself is outstanding, but because of the ignorant pricks that take up the majority of the GT community, I only log in about 1-2 times per month, to check my messages or something...

I have been following this site since they were dotORG and i have been attracted to his numbers.

I even learned some stuff here before i got into school for accounting.

i found the site looking for sales estimates.

i liked how the people posted every gaming news there was from any source.

though if I were to arrive now...
_the site is way to heavy on the browser
_the news are really of a low quality (way too much junk in there)
_the users are less fun to read. Many suffer from the i'm always right syndrome of the internet.

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

the forums!

and the fact that the top/newest forum posts are on the front page? sooooo nice

i love it!

the community is great!

i just hope that the new update to the site dosnt ruin the easy access to hot forum topics

Oh no real reason except that it is a bloody awesome site for all our gaming & sales info needs.
