Forums - Gaming Discussion - Will the Bungie/Activision deal kill the Xbox?

What do you think?

360 instead of a PS3 simply because knew that Halo 3 and any future Bungie games would be coming out on it.Halo is the only xbox exclusive that I really care about,

Now that it is almost a certainty that Bungie's next project will be multiplatform is there really any reason to buy an xbox?

We all know that the machine has its problems but since its the machine that lets us play halo we put up with it.

In a couple more years when the next wave of consoles hits will anybody be loyal to a microsoft without a bungie?

In order to make friends one should reach out first instead of just waiting.

Too late in the gen for any console to be killed.

Rising costs for development will cause more games to go multi platform next gen. I wouldn't worry about brand loyalty. Well...unless you're a Nintendo fan.

360 Games Now Playing   360 Games unopened:  Resonance of Fate  Last 360 Game I Beat: Resident Evil 5

DS Games Now Playing: Dragon Quest VI  DS Games unopened Knights in the Nightmare, Etrian Odyssey III, Okamiden, Dragon Quest IX Last DS Game I beat: Radiant Historia

Wii Games Now Playing  Super Mario Galaxy 2, Arc Rise Fantasia  Wii  Games unopened  Little King's Story, Sonic Colors, Silent Hill Shattered Memories Last Wii Game I beat: Sin & Punishment 2

Microsoft better start creating some new AAA IPs like Sony does.

It can't be that bad. Microsoft did have the first crack at anything Bungie made before they joined u with Activision. Microsoft wouldn't have let them go for no reason. Besides, Microsoft still has the rights to Halo and they've still got plenty going for them.

This won't kill Xbox.

Halo is owned by Microsoft Game Studios not Bungie.

Yeah, the Xbox died when MS stopped people being able to play Halo 2, which is surely the result of Bungie leaving. Now MS is going to have to bring out a new console, and perhaps call it the Xbox 360. This one will not be killed by this, because MS owns the IP, and has plenty of other big franchises and developers anyway

Yes it's all over for poor M$. Didn't we do this thread a month ago?

No.  I personally wonder if hardcore Sony fanboys have nurtured such a strong hate for Bungie that they won't give their games a try.  Seemed the case when Sega went third party and had its franchise games categorically ignored on the PS2.  MS fanboys will be bitter too and maybe take it out on Bungie.  So, more than anything, Bungie may be the one that ends up hurting, sadly.

No, the Xbox brand will be fine.  This gen has years left and still some redefining of the brand could still take place depending on public reaction to the end result of "Project Natal".

Also, your avatar is very . . . distracting ...

No but it will certainly hurt the next Xbox. How much damage it will do is unknown.

Next gen could be tough for Xbox. Imagine if Gears/Mass Effect go multiplat, Valve stops making Xbox exclusive games and Halo is not being made by Bungie anymore. Now that would kill the next xbox IMO. What would they do?

it depedns what the sales are next gen.

if Wii were to be HD then all the devs would have been goin to Wii-platform like the PS2 days.

it was just that Wii crowd was all casual so devs had to go for HD PLATFORMS for some of the higher quality games

if next gen all the consoles are almost the same like PS2,XBOX,GAMECUBE and the leading console has more than double the sales of its competitors like the PS2 then devs will again go exclusive
