If that is your only reason, then the same could be said for so many other games.

must you come into evey thread where someone is happy and drag down the mood? he didn't say no other game was allowed to be praised, he was just asking whether people thought this game was good enough or not

Yes. Yes i must.

how sad

Opinions vary

Could say the same thing about Red Dead Redemption.

Art isn't fun so it can go be arty with all the pompous people that are pompous and arty while I play Super Mario Galaxy 2 and cum all over my pristine pure white Wii.

Mmm.. Fun!

I will be playing it tomorrow , and i will back after a Galaxy weekend to say if it is or not a piece art , but just by the review , i think i say yes.

GO PATS! 2012 THE YEAR OF NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS'S 4TH SUPER BOWL!

A patriot to the end. GO PATS!

Now playing> THE LAST STORY (Wii) Best RPG I EVER PLAYED. *-*

Nintendo could u please just take my money and give me back my 3DS?!

It's as artistic as a loving crafted film set - which is to say it represents great craftsmanship but it isn't Art as I see it nor as most general definitions try and represent it.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

modeling and drawing and animating games is an art form, so that means every game in existence is art.

I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

- Wasteland - The Mission.

You know in terms of artistic originality, its nothing new (even if i spent 100 years explaining why Gaudi, Escher and Dali were the real reasons for this games artistic look, you would still hate me for this comment), BUT in terms of gameplay mechanics, and the use of art in order to enhance game play mechanics (see Eschers artwork and then play SMG), its nothing else but revolutionary.

This calls for an equally ridiculous demonstration of why SMG is one of the BEST ideas in the history of videogames.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

the game looks sweet, better than most games out there
so yeah it is art

Even tho Galaxy is my fav game in the last decade and Galaxy 2 may soon replace it, I would have to disagree.

Some how art has come to mean "great" in the mind of gamers. But art is an expression.

I think of it like this:

You can have two houses, 1) one is considered art. It looks interesting because it's made off recycled glass bottles. But it's not really somewhere you WANT to live. It's a spectacle, and more importantly an expression of the artists heart (in this case being green). It's very rarely a game does this. I could only think of SotC.

The other house is a well crafted house designed for being lived in. It has the latest amenities and the builders only used the best materials. It's completely functional and has many innovations to make it even more comfortable. It's well crafted. I think all great video games fall into this category, including SMG2.

I guess to be succinct: there is a difference between Art and Craftmanship. Great games reguire craftmanship more so than art.

(i realize this doesnt address the superficial artistic design that most great games posses [ie Okami, Metriod Prime], but the visuals are just one part of the body of work. A house with the Mona Lisa in it wouildnt be considered an art piece just because it has art in it)
