the game should sit in the league of awesome titles of perfection like uncharted 2, MGS4 but of it's own genre. Well for some it's how RE5 should've been.

If the game had gotten much better reviews, then yes, I would seriously consider it for purchase as a new game, but instead, I plan on either renting it after RDR, or buying it used. However, that is not an insult to the game, it's just a fact.

93+ metacritic games carry with them a certain stigma. When I have a stack of games to buy, I make sure to buy the AAA games first. It's really about the law of averages. Sure, some 80 scored games will be better to me, than some AAA games, but on average, AAA games will be superior, so I play the math. Fact.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

It's not AAA then? I thought it was supposed to be a really good game?

It is a really good game, AAA is in the eye of the beholder. Those who enjoy rich storytelling, spooky game tactics, and engaging game play will appreciate it and ignore that Meta of 83.

Hmm, yeah well from what I've seen/read/heard about the game, it seems like a game that would be considered AAA overall, by the general (gaming) press/public. But I suppose it's not as widely appealing as, say, a game like GTA is. Ah well.

yes the question is as in the title please vote:):)

I find it funny that someone with a name like yours made this topic.  The reason being that I recently bought two games, Alan Wake for myself and Final Fantasy 13 for my girlfriend.  My girlfriend loves JRPGs so I figured she would be in gaming bliss with FF13.  Well it turned out that she played it for a bit but after watching me play Alan Wake she started playing it as well and it's the only game she has played since.  It's interesting that she would prefer Alan Wake so much more since it has a similar Metacritic score to Final Fantasy 13.  Of course it may be that the Final Fantasy series is overrated (you tell me) but I was still surprised.

Well anyways I just wanted to share that and it's great to see other people sharing just how much they've enjoyed the game.  If that was your goal and you wanted to make a thread that would cause people to share their experiences with the game and show just how much ass it kicks it's obvious you've accomplished that goal.  Now that you've gotten this game some good coverage in the forums you should help out Red Dead Redemption with its PS3 sub-HD problems (something Alan Wake was attacked for).  Hopefully you can convince some PS3 gamers that bashed Alan Wake over that problem to pick up that game because I think it's amazing.

He could be a Final Fight fanatic

OT I would have bought Alan Wake regardless of the reviews (I did). I don't pay attention to them anyway. The only opinion that matters to me is my own.

Alan Wake is a 90+ in my book anyway. Awesome game!

what is an AAA game?

Metacritic above 90.

That's not true at all, that hardly has anything to do about it.

The game is in fact a AAA a title and to top it off, it is amazing. For a game to considerd to be a AAA title, it is just a game with a very high budget. Basing AAA with an the average of a site that doesn't include a lot of the reviews and/or the same review scores for different version consoles is extremely dumb.

Exactly, an AAA game is just a game with a very high budget (2 digit millions, usually). It has nothing to do with metacritic.

It's tough to make a decision on whether a title is AAA or not...but all games that usually involve long development phase and lot's of impressing visuals stands less shy of it..AW is same here.

the problem with Metacritic is that it adds retarded reviews.... if you're score is 20 points below Giant Bomb you're an idiot... seriously if you don't like games like this then why review them?
