Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo Owning Third Parties!

Can't we all just get along!?

Anyways, I think you forgot to mention 2 very important bridge building steps.

1.  Nintendo has opened up the floodgates of obscene profits to many third party developers in the form of the Virtual Console, and so far has the confirmed suppport of Sega, Hudson, Atlus, Namco Bandai, Banpresto, Capcom, Chunsoft, D4 Enterprise, Enterbrain, Irem, Jaleco, KEMCO, Koei, Midway Games, NCS Masaya, Netfarm, Paon, Rocket Company, Konami, Square Enix, Sunsoft, SNK Playmore, Taito, Tecmo, TakaraTOMY and some others.

2. They released a system that is selling better than everybody else. I think thats the biggest one right there!

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Problem is : Nintendo DO own third parties. Basically, despite numerous third party titles being released on the Wii, almost only Nintendo titles are reaching top of the charts. The 3 million sellers of the Wii are Wii Sports, Zelda and Wiiplay.

And if you read any forum, you know the most anticipated titles are : Smash Bro, Mario Striker, Mario Paper or Metroid.

How long will third party studios deal with this situation ?

@Cryoakira

you don't need  to sale 3 million from a wii-game to get profit

As long as the system is selling well, and games (first or third pary) are selling well third parties will continue to support the system.

As for games selling poorly, the real question is how well did developers anticipate their games selling? At 500,000 units sold Ubisoft would be very pleased with Rayman Raving Rabids but Sega would be very disapointed with Virtual Fighter 5...

Well I am pretty sure that if Final fantasy would have been relaesed for Wii it would have been a lot of people talking about that game.
Red Steel had a lot of hype, but came out with pretty bad reviews still scoring above 300k.

Well looking at the legs for Rayman I would say that 500k isn't impossible for Rayman, byt thats another matter.

It's not Nintendo's fault that they make such great games....I don't understand how that got turned into an insult.  "Only Mario, Zelda, and Metroid are the best sellers, etc," maybe that's because they're the best games?

And how dare somebody insult the greatness of SSBM!

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I think i will wait and see if third parties actually release some AAA games on the wii before i pass judgement on this thread.

Actually are there any 3rd party AAA games coming to the wii??

Miyamoto himself already adressed this. He's called out third party devs to stop using fourth string programming teams.

Third party developers shouldn't just sit and let Nintendo take all the money. They need to stop half assing their attempts and look what Nintendo is doing.
