Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why are some Nintendo fans angry with Move?

Ok, I'm pretty sure a lot of nintendo fans were still all about motion controls being the future after Sony made that remark.

So basically they're just pissed Sony copied them completely?

I can understand how this is gonna piss Nintendo fans off, but at the same time I can't see Nintendo fans wanting Sony/Microsoft to be innovative with motion controls??

Although, from few fans I have heard "at least natal is a different interface and not a complete copy", it still doesn't seem to be welcomed with open arms given the "motion is the future" vibe I got from 06 - 08

Who's angry? I haven't met too many angry fans. Infact most fans are looking forward to watching Sony's blatent rip off go up in smoke. I myself laugh at Sony's attempt to steal the Wiimote, the hardware alone can't redeem Sony. All Sony's best publishers could develope anything MoveFit, MovePlay, MoveSports and they will still fail.

Its not just the Wiimote that makes the Wii great. its the first party content and nothing Sony can do will change the fact that they are ultimatly inferior.

P.S- I own a PS3, but Move is not going to challenge Nintendo. I will likely not pick up Move I just don't see the point in paying upwards of a 100$ for the exact same motion sensing technology I get on my Wii without the strong software to back it up!

didnt nintendo say storage is for geeks?

anyway, move looks to be more precise, is likely to come with charge cables, has wireless controller addon and on top of that uses pseye which in turn can be used as a mic.

no need to buy a seperate wiispeak!

but end of day we will have to see which provides best games, ps move or wimoteplus.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

I don't think the skepticism around Natal has anything to do with Nintendo fans. Many people are skeptic about it, until we actually get to play it, there's really nothing much to say about this.

The fact that Nintendo fans are annoyed at Sony and not MS' motion controls means it clearly has something to do with the fact that Move looks like a copy. The hypocrisy thing probably just makes it worse, because I imagine MS probably bashed motion controls in the past too, yet they don't receive the same hate (I could be wrong here).

The people that claim Nintendo fans are hating due to fear of Sony having superior games seems off (the only people saying this are those who aren't exactly fans of the Wii). The fact is, people don't like it when companies rip-off others. When MS "copied" Mii's with their avatars, there was similar bashing, yet it's not as if Nintendo fans were jealous of those avatars or something.

That is the answer to the question of the title of this thread

So. Let me get this right. Some Nintendo fans are angry because...

Sony's remote is black, while the Wii's is white.

Sony's has a wireless sub-controller, the Wii's doesn't.

Sony's has a big coloured ball on the end, the Wii's doesn't.

Sony's uses a camera to work, the Wii's doesn't.

Sony's is more accurate than the Wii's.

Sony's cannot be tilted to be used like a traditional controller, the Wii's can.

OT:
I think it's more to do with the more hardcore Wii fanbase being worried of 3rd parties reaction to it. If it sells well enough, we could see 3rd parties show even less attention to the Wii. ESPECIALLY if Natal takes off too. I predict lots of butthurt talk after E3, if Natal is looking good...

Looks don't matter. It's the same thing, it just looks different.

Nintendo could've made the Nunchuck wireless if they wanted too, but they didn't.

Of course Move will be more accurate! Technology always gets better as time goes on.

If Nintendo wanted to make entirely new and more accurate controllers, they could. But instead of making customers buy entirely new controllers, they made Motion+

If looks don't matter than why did you post a pointless picture showing how the 2 controllers look?

ignore them they are all butt hurt because the wiimote is not as good as ps move, as it has augmented reality and it can also do some things that natal can do like body tracking, notice how no-one is attacking natal, it looks like ps move may well be more succesful then we all think and the ninty fans now that which is why they keep on attacking it.

not to mention it already has better games for it, even though wm+ has been around for a while and all they got was wii sports resort that was worth getting i mean all that for a £40 add on i would be pissed off as well, which is why i did not bother with wm+ and will just get ps move instead

WiiMote lacks the bulb/ice cream scoopful/killer klown from outer space nose on its top, so it's clearly domed.

This blunder apart, maybe Ninty and some fans are realizing that selling WM+ as a separate add-on instead of including its features in WiiMote since the beginning, as most BTW expected initially, was a shortsighted saving, as every 3rd party developer wishing or needing to use its improved precision knows from the start that WM+ market is a minority fraction of Wii's one. But Nintendo is more than happy with the market it got with Wii's standard features and the nice and huge profits WiiFit (that differently from WM+, is quite obviously a peripheral to be sold as an optional add-on, in this case there's neither doubt nor controversy) added, so why worry?

Where is this massive clump of Sony fans who are extremely excited about Move? I sure haven't seen them in here. So stating that everyone who were saying that motion controls on the Wii were/are a gimmick are jumping up and down for Move is blatantly false.
In fact, it seems like most people are quite skeptical about the whole thing (me included) and feel that it has no place on the PS3 as a platform.
I was one of those who didn't fall in love with the Wiimote, and guess what? I think Move is silly, plain and simple.

Darc Requiem; That's business for you, MS have been doing the same thing as well, implementing rumble into their controller despite saying it was completely redundant, releasing an HD-DVD player add-on despite claiming that consoles were largely useless as media players and there was no need to support any of the HD formats (strange thing to say when you build an HD console). Nintendo have also kept ranting on about how online play is not only unimportant to them but unwanted by the gamers themselves (at least, that's what Iwata himself has droned on about) and they too are adding storage to the Wii despite failing to see the need for it off the line.

For me, all three manufacturers have made equally big asses of themselves this gen in one way or another and I find it funny that this site always deals in absolutes, even the most intelligent posers like to point fingers and accuse and somewhere, somehow someone is always labeling one of the companies as evil or unethical (people aren't wrong all the time though, some things are unethical).

For so long, a LOT of Nintendo fans and fanboys have said "motion control is the future, it will be the future of gaming" they seemed quite proud Nintendo was the first to do this, but all of a sudden, now Sony's jumped on the bandwagon, they're getting nothing but hostitily.

i have been wondering the same for quite a while now, but my question would have been: "What do Nintendo fans want?"

Many of them act as if Sony needs to fall on its knees and beg forgiveness or issues an official apology or something.

So, Sony "copied" the Wiimote? Rejoice! You have been right about motion controls all along! The Move still can fail, but it's not going away just because you don't like it.

And do people honestly think bashing the Move now makes them any better then the Sony fans that have been bashing the motion controls back then? Its the same patterns: "if i can't have it so i don't want it" or "i like this one so the other one must be bad"

I also believe that Sony honestly believed that motion control is a "fad" back then, because of their experience with the Eyetoy. So, they where wrong, big deal! Its not like Nintendo were absolutely sure about their approach, hence the somewhat limited original Wiimote.

So, please tell me, what do you want? What would make you stop flocking into every thread that has the word "Move" in the title?
