Tidus's voice may have been whiny, but the dialogue itself was fine. Zidane's dialogue is a different story.

Zidane, easily one of the least whiny FF leads, and an excellent change from the king of whinging Squall!

No offence to Tidus, Zidane was just in the right place at the right time.

While Zidane was one of my least favorite characters in Final Fantasy 9, Tidus just plain sucks so Zidane is my choice!

Totally agree with this. i'll add that Tidus was an abomination, his design was aweful, looked a bit like a tramp, not to mention a voice and dialogue that could shatter glass. i suppose he did have a cool sword at least. zidane was a pretty cool lead, and his Yosihtaka Ammo artwork looks badass.
