woah microsoft spin city turn off now!

"...the best way to prepare [to be a programmer] is to write programs, and to study great programs that other people have written. In my case, I went to the garbage cans at the Computer Science Center and fished out listings of their operating system." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

"Hey, Steve, just because you broke into Xerox's house before I did and took the TV doesn't mean I can't go in later and take the stereo." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

""Windows [n.] - A thirty-two bit extension and GUI shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor and sold by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.""

errr there were no rivals in April, what a crazy spin

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think they sold the PS3 / Wii in April.

I think his point was that they said that Splinter Cell: Conviction, a game released in April, sold more than Pokemon and God of War 3, both of which released mid-March.  So yes, SC:C was the top selling game in April, but it didn't exactly have a ton of competition.

Did you know that God of War 3 sold more than Halo 3: ODST, Halo 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on XBox360 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on the PS3 COMBINED*???!?!?!!??!?!

* In the month of March, 2010.

Too....much.....spin......gonna vomit!!

April still kinda stunk it up. Nice try though.

May's mayhem may make marketing mavens more magnanimous... methinks.

"Microsoft has reported that ‘Splinter Cell: Conviction’ – an Xbox 360 exclusive – sold nearly half a million copies during the month; thereby notching the top slot among rivals."

???

first: The article is mainly about total revenue. And the hardware + software made more revenue than any other product. That is quite an achievement considering the entry price is $199 (and according to some Sony-fans almost the only version sold) and the PS3 starts at $299 or even more for the 250GB version. And the Nintendo Wii sold way more hardware than the Xbox 360. So the Xbox 360 must have really strong revenues for the software and accessories.

second: What do you expect a PR-guy to say when their game is on No.1? "We had the best selling game, but this is not a big deal because the competition didn't release any good games this month..."

third: A game can be a competitor even though it released some time ago. Check Mario Kart some time ago.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Fanboys are funny.

The point of companies making consoles/games/etc. is to create revenue streams and make money.

They've been talking about the money spent on the platform for as long as I can remember.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

Oh yes! SC: Conviction in April sold more than GoW3. Fantastic. "More than any other platform!!"....errr, except, as the article pointed out, GoW3 pushed a million last month...and was only on the market for 2 weeks when they recorded the numbers.

But hey, an accomplishment is an accomplishment, right?
