PlayStation 2 Sells 1 Million In 2010

Currently holding its crown as the best selling gaming console of all time, the PlayStation 2 broke into its first 1,000,000 units for 2010. This feat was accomplished weeks before we reached the halfway point in the year, meaning the PS2 has potential to sell around 3,000,000 to 3,500,000 units by the end of the year due to the holiday season.

Analysts have predicted that the PS2 will soon reach a ground-breaking 150,000,000 total units. This is just under 50,000,000 more units than its predecessor, the PlayStation (PSOne) and a goal that Kaz Hirai (President & CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment) set for the PlayStation 3 a few years ago.

ps2 is selling now officially in emerging countries such as Brazil. congratulations to the king

in my opinion the ps2 is the best console
the types of games on the ps2 were alot and it had every kind of genre
i dont care if the Wii sells more consoles the ps2 still kicks ass

3.5 million a year was the same amount the Game Cube sold after 3 years in the market, PS2 does that after 10 years :D

I wonder when they'll stop production of the PS2. The PS1 was in production for 11 years but didn't sell as well as the PS2 (although it did very well) and on top of that, it was competing with 2 other playstation consoles.

So PS2 production continuing on for another 2 years then? Perhaps a Launch of the PS4 in two years also?

As long as they sell 1 million ps2 consoles a year, i dont see a need to discontinue it as its pure profit. Theywill most likely discontinue it some time after PS4 launches, since it's selling better then PS1 was at the same amount of years it'll stay on the market for longer.
