Forums - Sony Discussion - How do you think Nomura feels about the recent news about FFV13?

Hes preparing to give his 2week notice letter just incase it happens and then he will go and make his own company. I mean he is a Video Game Rockstar after all. I kinda hope he does that anyway after FF Versus XIII and KH3, I think he could do so much better then what SE has become.

I think that he would probably be in on the decision. I'm sure that the financial success of his game is important, and he is probably honored that MS would pay for a game with his name on it.

Either way, who knows what is in a man's heart.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

...and anyone who would quit his job because his game gets ported is too much of a fanboy to have a job in the first place, so no, he wouldn't quit.

And am I the only one thinking that if it does go to 360 Nomura won't be working on it anymore.

yes.

he is 40... not 14.

/thread

AND Unless he wants to get his ass fired he'll work on the game.

he won't be happy that for sure, he was inteview sereval reason, it stayed exclusive was to get max of the hardware.

FF13 was inferior on 360 graphically, but it sold decently, not great 1/5 isn't bad.

many things were cut ff13 and compress so it fit DVD (foliage, textures, Video)Versus it not even linear as FF13 IS, it's open world.

I suspect he's working out his unbridled rage by adding a few more spikes and zippers to his characters.

SE president pay him double so he said "YES". j/k

hm, i think he want FFV13 to be quality like the past FF games like FF7/8/X which were the best three FF games that got the most sales that passed 6m in only a console.

and that three games, Noruma created the best looking main hero.
Cloud/Squall/Tidus, the three most well known and most handsome main characters.

Noctis is his next most handsome main character, hm, yeah i think he will feel a bit sad if it go to 360 as well because he know his Noctis will loose some quality.

He also did the characters for FFXIII, but then again... ... I could make a case for 3 or 4 other FF being better... depending on taste. But sales obviously can't argue.

Also, about Sakaguchi. I do not agree with him being coerced out the door. However he was the president, and made a very bad decision with his fingerprints all over it (though I actually loved the movie), The movie was 130 million and it bombed. Granted... he was the biggest reason Squaresoft became successful. He was coerced out because he made an aweful aweful financial decision...however as I said it was to severe.

Now, Nomura is not president, wada is. Not the same situation as sakaguchi. Now there's numereous reasons why Nomura, won't leave square and I have to wonder how upset he actually is. As the xbox 360 is not that inferior to the ps3 in anything but the blu-ray (which mostly results in compressed cutscenes etc)... but they could make it multiple discs, with obvious worse graphics. As I said the ps3 is more powerful if programmed correctly, but it isn't god compared to the xbox or even close to it. But I hope it doesn't go multiplatform, as it's easier to optimize it for one console... and thus will release more quickly. but I hope it does for different reasons as well. 1) mainly being all the xbox people that bought FFXIII and liked it most likely want to buy versus XIII. And if your trying to grow the Final Fantasy Market on the 360, it's not a good idea to not port them versus.

But nomura won't leave for a couple reasons. If he goes to another company, he likely won't get as big of a budget as versus. Because he wouldn't be using the FF IP. Thus, he wouldn't be able to create his vision anyways. Plus the best console for is vision is the PC as it's way more powerful and (More expensive) however that wouldn't sell most likely. Thus, he already compromised his visionsome there yes? Now I know wada doesn't make the most sense at times. But part of his job is to not let the creators go nutso and do something financially bad like sakaguchi did. (I won't comment on whether he does a good job of that though)

look at sakaguchi, blue dragon was bleh to me, and Lost odyssey was good.... but obviously had no where near the budget of FF, yes him creating it pulls some, but the IP pulls the most imo.

Plus theres no guarentee it will come to the 360 anyways.

Edit: I agree with scoobes below me. And as always, like scoobes said, there needs to be a balance... and right now I think wada is unbalancing it a bit. However, at this stage in development... It wouldn't make business sense to port something that was impossible to port (if for some weird reason this is the case) as it would be too expensive, and you'd have to redo work already done.

It seems more and more that Square-Enix is a company divided. There seems to be this division between the management and the creative developers. On the one hand you have the guys at the top trying to make business decisions for what they perceive as the good of the company, and on the other you have the creative guys trying to ensure their vision remains intact. It sound to me like the management is getting a bit too heavy handed, espeically after the FFXII main character debacle. It sounds to me like the artists just want to create yet they're being dictated to and restricted by the higher ups.

I can understand both points as sometimes a creator vision becomes unrealistic (financially), but I think in the case of SE they just need to let their creative employees do their thing.

Nomura , i love you !

keep the faith!

Yes we have seen that loads of times. Kitase & Nomura were against XIII going multiplat first & then remember when Wada said there are employees at the company who want to make games they enjoy not games that people enjoy.

But it doesn't matter a mainline FF has never disappointed me, I don't see how Versus will be the first one to disappoint especially when you look at the team members on it. Besides the 2nd best RPG of this gen is multiplat (ESIV Oblivion).
