yeah that sucks for u guys but isn't ur standard of living higher? I do think it is unfair but 360 is American so they focus on us first. Just like N and Sony focus more attetion of Japan first. Japanese prices are more than America too. Its jsut that our market has more competition where this market is up for grabs so the PL decrease for each trying to get market share in the largest market in the world and since we have one of the highest internet based societies not saying Europe does but Eruo is not a huge market for games considering multi languages etc localization u know.

"Like you know"

Yes but I am happy that I don't live in South Amerika or Australia.

Mainly because of taxes.

You mean America, but you are right. Video games here cost more than the anual income of some citizens. Taxes and exchange rates makes it impossible for most people to enjoy VG. Mega Drives are still sold for U$ 150 in my country.

Europe has more comprehensive social programs, socialized medicine, and higher minimum wages.

This means taxes, wages of shipping/warehousing/gamestore workers, power, fuel, etc. will be higher, when costs are higher than retail prices will be too. Also in the US taxes are added to msrp, because sales tax are on the state not the national level.

( Edit: South American prices are higher because there is no high end mass consumer market.  The division between the working poor and middle class in South America is much wider than in US or EU, therefore, the companies may as well charge more because they can only sell so many any way.  Also, because in Central and South America there is are third parties that market and ship the product, this cost more than direct marketing)

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

u say that europe isnt a huge gaming market but did u notice that the uk sold more consoles this week than japn which is the second biggest gaming market so ur wrong to say europe isnt huge gaming market

You guys definitely get ripped off. Of course there's the cost of translating the game into several languages and the amount of duplicate manpower because of so many countries to take into consideration. Still prices should be nowhere near what they are there, especially for hardware.

Maybe, but I was just reading an article about how Microsoft bleeds over a billion dollars a year on their live services. Mostly Their msn, hotmail services but xbox live is part of it. Shows how expensive it is to operate it.
