Forums - PC Discussion - Ubuntu 10.4 (Lynx Lucid) impressions!

is anyone a ubuntu user? i just downloaded this update and i am loving it so far,  its so slick and sexy, plus EVEN MORE FASTER than the already fast as hell Ubuntu 9.4

i like how the Chat is made also , its very colorful this time around, but the only thing i find weird is where the minimize and "X" buttons are placed, it needs getting used to.

i love the new Ubuntu One music store, and all the free games, plus videos and music run a lot better than they used to!

for those who want to know about it go here (its FREE!)

I'm loving it too, been using Linux on and off for a couple of years, but since Karmic i've loaded it onto all my PCs, i'm so impressed with out fast and slick it all is.

Loving Lucid, everything boots in so quickly, and it is very smooth.

I found having the minimise and close buttons on the left hand side of the windows too annoying, so i switched back to 'New Wave' theme, i like it simple, especially since i use Windows at work (unfortunately)

Other thing that took a little time to get used to is the removal of the loading screen on boot-up. it's weird looking at a blank screen as it starts up, but it really does improve the boot time.

overall, loving Ubuntu more and more each day. even uninstalled Windows 7 from my Netbook to load on Ubuntu, and it works so much better.

Why do people pay for Windows I don't know...

Mind showing us a screenshot of your interface? I used to use Ubuntu a while back, and am curious to how much it's changed exactly, I'm back with Windows now D:

Here you go, it's a little cramped, but that's because its on my 10inch netbook. you should see it on my 29inch HD monitor on my tower PC!

My internet feels slower for some reason.

I notice you have a steam icon, does that work well on there? does it work for most games?

I still run a windows XP partition for playing Dawn of War 2, would love to play it through my Ubuntu OS, but looks kinda tricky, even with Wine. Know if you can play it through Steam??

A couple more pics.

I like it, given my horrible experiences with Ubuntu 9 that put it into one of the worst OSes I've tried (it gave me an error on everything, kernel panics, dling problems, anything you can imagine), U10 has been a pleasant experience, barely any error, I'm digging the black, very stable...

Overall, great OS

I think i'm going to have to customise my desktop a little more after seeing your examples above...

suggestions on a good background?

winner gets pride of place as my desktop wallpaper.
