I like this , But the answer is No Sony won't stop , They will go for a PSP 2 & PS4 and the ever growing No of Sony produced games (Software) proves it .
Like Nintendo software that makes fan base buy a Nintendo console to play Zelda , Mario , Pokemon , ....ETC . Sony is growing in the same direction creating Gran Turismo , God of war , Little big planet , Uncharted , .....ETC
The market itself has grown since those Sega days and while there was only success for 1 console , Now there can be 2 or even 3 successful consoles in the market (DS & PSP , In hand-held)

The only reason that Sony might not choose to make a PS4 is if the economy crashes, but either way, we're still going to have the PS3 for several more years.

Like I stated before, they (Sony and Microsoft) learn a lot this generation and they will not make the same mistakes. If anything, the Wii has changed the industry and consoles with loss leading technology will be a things of the past. They will push their systems to the edge but it will never be the over priced, overly budgeted consoles anymore. Not if they want to get the causal market involve from day 1. And that where a massive profit is being made. There is can only be so many Halos, Call of Dutys, Gran Turismos, vs Guitar Heroes, Rock Bands, Just Dance, Pokemons, Wii "concept" games.

I don't think you understand why the wii sells. It sells because it's mainstream, like the PS2 and PS1 before it.

PS4 will come and is probably closer than people realize.

It will probably have pad+move as standart controls but most importantly it must have upgrade of GPU.

If they want to push 3D gaming they need machine powerfull enough to make 720@60 fps or better 1080p@60 fps.

Considering such GPUs cost 100$-150$ on todays market it should be realistic for 2011 or 2012.

Sony stated PS3 hardware has been profitable for 2 months, and that's without even including PS3 software.

Plus, PS3 software sales now exceed 360 software sales according to recent numbers released by Sony.

So yeah, there will be a PS4, and they'll win again. Don't worry for them.

Man these have to be the most stupid Threads/ Questions ever, Are these even Gamers asking or what, The PS3 is just getting ready for its 4 th year, They made a console that is now profiting, Sony has a 10 year life span, Just like with PS2, any Gamer should know this. Sonys sales are up, Software up, they are doing well, they have 6 years to make money back, which they will make a ton, Ounce again if you are a gamer, you already know all this, Sony always has a vision, they support there products, they look down the road, make a superb system that will be advanced, and last, they knew they first few years they would loose a ton of money, and they also knew that all that money would be made back, and much much more. This is Business, takes money to make money, How many systems did Nintendo do, that did not really make a lot of money, several, did they stop, NO, There will be a PS4, just like there will be idiotic threads.

Hmm, None? They made a lot o money with every console. But okay if we assume they made "not really a lot of money" but, even then, that's not like they lost 7+ billions like the PS3. You can say sony will survive this (and I believe it will), but you can never compare this situation with Nintendo's.

Sony risked alot to build a foundation for many things.

Blu-Ray, Cell, PlayStation Network, PlayStation Home, Minis, etc.

Which leads me now to believe Sony will keep the PlayStation name.
Building for future is what Sony is all about.

Remember, they might have lost money the past FY's, but they generated $77+ billion in FY 2010.

PS4 is extremly likely already in development. I think it was last year that there were job listings listed for a 'next gen' playstation system.

I think it's very likely Microsoft won't be making a next gen system, but not Sony.
