Considering the PSP is essentially dead in North America, I'd say they should be releasing something soon.

The problem with the PSP2 being the biggest E3 surprise is that this would require it to be a surprise at all. Seriously; who here doesn't expect an announcement very soon?
Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

i would love to see this, lots of my play time is becoming towards the handhelds these days, and i love the PSP.

The next PSP will be at E3 or at least announced at the show. That would be my best bet. To be honest if the next PSP does not launch in a competitive time to the 3DS Sony will loose all of its marketshare in the handheld market and be doomed to fail if it chooses to launch the console in 2011 or 2012.
Sony needs PSP2 in order to survive in the handheld market and they need it fast. Heck Nintendo doesn't even consider PSP the competition anymore they consider the I-Phone to be. Sony needs to take drastic action fast or have their console (PSP) go the way of the great GameGear!

I wouldn't be surprised....they have to do something or 3DS will steal more of their market share.
I'm sure they will announce it,sony is the best secret keeper after all...

No way Nintendo is for sure. I mean seriously the PSPGo was the worst kept secret in the history of gaming.

Your saying that there is still room to innovate and bring new features when it comes to Nintendo handheld but not when it comes to Sony handheld? Thats how it sounds you know. Your also talking like Nintendo invent everything, while im pretty sure dual screen was the only feature not available somewhere else. "unless they take the Move approach of shamelessly copying the DS" Really?! Its a different tech with a similar concept, dont you think shamelessly copying is a little exagerated? |
Well, the DS was pretty damned innovative, and I think most people are expecting the 3DS to follow that innovative path. Can you really fault someone for expecting more innovation from the Nintendo handheld than the Sony handheld? And I'm not saying Nintendo invented everything, or even anything (I don't think 2 screens is so much an invention as it is a design choice). But there's a huge difference between invention and successful and innovative implementation.
Perhaps I'll be proven quite wrong and the PSP-2 (if it comes) will blow away expectations. But right now I think my expectations seem to be fairly justified.

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
I would want the PSP2 to have better connectivity with the PS3.
Friends list, chat, messaging, trophies all cross platform with the PS3 would be great.
Unique PSP trophies would show up on the PSP's new xmb interface, and they would be tracked and shown on the PSN through the PS3 as well.
and of course a touch screen and dual analogue would be a must. A large hard drive and built in camera would be great as well. I like the form of the PSP go, so if all of this was integrated, and physical games came on micro sd cards (for all of you whiners who need physical games)
then that would be cool too.
there is still a space to revitalize and invent the online multiplayer market for portable consoles.
a person should be able to play LBP on the PSP online and play with friends who are playing on the PS3.
This would really be amazing.

I agree with your last paragraph, its natural to expect something more based on past experiences. But re-read what I underline from one of your earlier post.
