Forums - Sales Discussion - EA: Mass effect 2 sold 1.6 Million (PC + Xbox 360 sales) - poor PC sales??

http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-6894-Video-Game-News-Examiner~y2010m5d12-EA-reveals-sales-results-for-Army-of-Two-The-40th-Day-Dantes-Inferno-and-Mass-Effect-2

During their recent conference call, Electronic Arts reveals some sales data to three of the biggest 2010 games.

According to the publisher, Mass Effect 2 has sold 1.6 million units on the PC (including digital downloads) and Xbox 360. Army of Two: The 40th Day was able to sell through more than 1 million units across the PSP, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Finally, Dante’s Inferno did “almost 1 million units” on the PSP, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. All the numbers above are through the last fiscal quarter for Electronic Arts, which ended on March 31st.

including digitl downloads. VGchrtz has it at 1.72 Million for xbox 360 alone. So PC sals only 800K?

Around the Network

what???1.6 million has been shipped for all the platforms and VG has ME2 on X360 at 1.72??

this means X360 version is over tracked by at leaset half a million

oh i jst realized its 1.6 million nt 1.8 million

so its overtrcked on both? Disappointng sales.

Why hsnt word of mouth helped its legs form? maybe ppl hvnt really liked it as much as critics did.

Wow...

Massively overtracked here then.

The question is though... By how much? 300k? 400k? 500k...?

PC sales: -0.12 million

Oh now I understand why people are saying the PC is doomed.

Around the Network

Dante's Inferno is also slightly overtracked it seems.

40th Day seems to be undertracked.

that was quite comedic but I bought mine on PC so it's -.12 million plus 1

But is there a link to the EA numbers and not just examiner.com because he wrote it quite confusingly... atleast wasn't completely clear. Maybe he meant 1.6 on both PC and xbox 360 = 3.2 million? what did he mean?

The PC actually counts for negative sales. That's how they got the number. This is also way weird because I remember them saying that it had sold 2 million just a month or so after it was out, back when the 360 was tracked at only about 0.9 mil.

even making that mistake means the PC verison has sold 80 K not 800 K :p

Well ME2 according to NPD sold 890k in the first quarter. Currently on VGChartz we have ME2 at 1.25M in the Americas. According to VGChartz it passed the 890k mark ~early-mid February.

It is definitely overtracked somewhere, that would be my guess.
