Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Game Informer Reviews Super Mario Galaxy 2

I don't have a picture, but Matt Helgeson wrote:

Concept: The sequel to the groundbreaking platformer delivers clever and extremely challenging platforming

Graphics: All bright and colorful as always; this looks good enough to make me wish the Wii could output true HD

Sound: A mix of classic Mario music and a variety of other catchy tunes

Playability: The platforming is rock solid and Yoshi adds some great new gameplay. However, a couple gimmicky uses of Wii motion controls (like flying) are extremely poor

Entertainment: While it's the first Mario title in a long time that doesn't break the mold, you'll be glad to have more of Galaxy to play

Replay Value: Moderately High

Review Score: 9.25

Notable New Reviews in the Issue:

Red Dead Redemption - 9.75

Lost Planet 2 - 8.5

Split Second - 8.25

Skate 3 - 8.75

Alan Wake - 8.5

ModNation Racers - 8.5

Monster Hunter Tri - 7 (I believe he played it with motion control)

Trauma Team - 8

Rating Lost Planet 2 with 8.5 makes all the games in that list worth of an 11.

*skips review*

Gameinformer is a pile of shit, I don't care what they say.

Kimi wa ne tashika ni ano toki watashi no soba ni ita

Itsudatte itsudatte itsudatte

Sugu yoko de waratteita

Nakushitemo torimodosu kimi wo

I will never leave you

After seeing Monster Hunter Tri with a 7, I find it hard to take GameInformer seriously.

Pixel Art can be fun.

GameInformer is nothing to concern yourself with if your deal is Wii games. I learned that a long time ago, when they ran a 6/10 review for No more Heroes and an article about how Wii is destroying gaming (through casuals of course) and how Super Smash Brawl tanked. Yes they went there.

Too high for Lost Planet 2, that game is a 5.5 in my book (well maybe they have a ot of copies in gamestop and really what to get rid of them)

I must say, I am a little shocked, I was fully expecting to come in here and see that they rated this a 7 or so. Not because SMG2 deserved it mind you, but because GI can't seem to pass up very many opportunities to paint themselves even more irrelevant than they already are.
I'd think that they are getting better, but that Monster Hunter review knocks me back to reality (they didn't even use the New Classic Controller...the dern thing was MADE for the game! At least have the decency to plug it in and try it.)

O_O Oh wow, I wanted to scream into a pillow when I read this. They criticise it for not doing something different and yet they gave MW2 a 9.75 and praised it for being 'unique'. This is the first time a 3D mario has had a sequel, and straight away they jump in to say it's not revolutionary.

It's a double standard that most reviewers hold.

I don't care what site you go to, they will bash Nintendo for not doign something unique, yet praise generic shooter 451C.

Hahahah! GI sucks! =P
