Personally I don't think it's going to be the video game movie to finally break free from mediocrity. But it will review better than most. I think it will achieve a credible 40-59% but still fall into the rotten category. If it lives in that territory then I think fans of the game / gaming should like it well enough and I for one plan to see it unless it reviews particularly badly.

I find Rotten Tomatoes a pretty good benchmark for determining whether I should pay the money to see a movie in theatres. However you have to adjust for genre. So I normally adjust VG movies up by about 20% to detemine whether they're worth seeing at the cinema. So if PoP gets above 40% it'll be worth my while. If it gets less than 30% it won't be worth the parking fee, let alone the ticket price.

I'll say it gets a 48. Early reviews are saying that it's not too bad of a movie, but still the videogame to move genre is plagued by horrible movies. I'll be surprised it if goes over 50.

Hmmm, no one wanna play this game?

I voted 20-39 %. It's my guess that this will be a huge Fail of a movie considering Disney is behind it and it doesn't look like it does anything other than Jake jumping around and pretending that he has some sort of chemical attraction everybody is hyping with Gemma. I'm expecting The Last Airbender to suffer the same fate unfortunatley but for different reasons...

That aside, I don't usually like to use Rotten Tomatoes to determine what I go to see in theaters, I pretty much just look at the trailers and decide if it looks like it's for me. Admittedly at the same time I probably would have skipped out on How to Train Your Dragon if I hadn't.

This film I'm not expecting great things of because there's never been a good video game adaptation before and I don't expect this to be any different considering the afformentioned reasons in my first paragraph. And it would seem that with the exception of a few critics out there, they would agree with my statement. If it's lucky it might reach Resident Evil ratings in the low 30s or so. Pessimism is a great way to avoid dissapointment.

I think it will end up in the 60s.
