Sony didn't invent blu-ray by themself, they own less than 1/4th of the blu-ray IP THe blu-ray disc association is

Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Thomson, LG (Lucky GoldStar) Electronics, Hitachi, Sharp, and Samsung

Thus your friend real, or a figmant of your imagination. Is not very reasonable thinker

actually the BDA is just the association that controls the standard. Sony and Phillips developed Blu-ray like they did CD.

well, still they didn't develop it by themself. From the estimates I've read but could be wrong. Sony doens't even own 25% so wouldn't that imply they got funding to develop it from some of the Blu-Ray Association.

Kinda say relating it to videogames, Square Enix's IP DQVIII was developed by level five with influence from SE. thus I guess you prove your point

M$ made codecs for Blu-ray.. so that could be true. Blu-ray used to use an MPEG codec, which had some bad compression at points, then switched over to M$ codecs.

No considering the BDA didnt exist till after Blu-ray was first demoed by Sony. Sony doesnt own the BDA because the BDA is a group of company that came together to support the standards like the DVD Forum did for DVD before it. Sony and Phillip's own patent rights to Blu-ray. Its just that they wont enforce it due to Sony and Phillips dont want to kill the format. Could you imagine what it would have been like if Sony and Phillips demanded royalties for CDs or whoever made DVD charge royalties? the formats would lose content providers fast.

VC-1 has been available as a codex for Blu-ray during the HD War. Thats right, Microsoft supported both Blu-ray and HD-DVD back then. Only thing is back then most studios were used to the MPEG2 format and used that. Now its pretty much MPEG4 and VC-1 as the standards for video till something else comes around.

Your friend's not very bright.

4 ≈ One

I correct: Microsoft copies everything from everyone.

some exemples:
360's processor is a copy from PS3's one
Windows is a bad copy of MacOSX

E3 2015 Wishlist:

Ratchet & Clank (PS4)
Mass Effect 4 (MEH)
Age of Empires IV (PC)
Quantic Dream (PS4)
Mario 3D (Wii U)
Banjo-Kazooie (XOne)

if microsoft made bluray then why does the ps3 suck? is the work of microsoft bad?

Being in 3rd place never felt so good
