Forums - Sony Discussion - Video: ModNation Racers CRAZY LONG load times.

3 and a half minutes to play in a single player race? I can't imagine the load times for a created track in online multiplayer.

I hear ya and I am seriously going to take a wait and see approach with this game and I suggest others do the same.

I want to wait and see some gameplay vids after the game is released and see if this is a preview copy problem only or if it worked it's way into the retail version as well, because if loading issues this bad are present in the retail copy I will wait a month or more to purchase it since by that time we will probably see a patch to correct it.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Patch should solve this easily and hopefully they release it ASAP.

The beta had long load times. But it wasn't that bad.

You're most definitely a much more tolerant man than I am.

Well all of the reviewers said it had long load times, but they said it was just 1 minute so it may be the guy's ps3, or this is fake.

Unless the reviewers were talking about specific loading screens (ie the intial one is a minute in itself) If it really is that bad then it's worse than old PS1 games.

Is it possible that his hard drive is poor quality? I mean the PS3 can accept any (2.5"?) HDD, maybe this guy bought a big one to store more stuff, but it is causing longer loading times than just playing from Blu-Ray?

By the way guys, I forgot to mention that this is from Ars Technica in case anyone was wondering about it's validity.

no, I just won't miss out on a great game because af load times that will probably be fixed with a simple update.

reviewers said loading screens could take 30s to 1 minute, so I doubt it's something wrong with his PS3 HDD or anything else.  Retail copy should be better but I wouldn't count on it.

Does it suck? yes.  Will it keep me from playing an otherwise great game?  of course not.

And I will be picking it up if the loading times get fixed through an update.

It is just that for me ~4 minutes is way too much to wait from going from XMB to a race.

The ~1 minute wait will be for each and every race unless you're redoing a race.

They better fix it or it's going to cost them tons of sales. I want this game though, it looks so much fun to play.
