Forums - Microsoft Discussion - I never thought it would come to this, but after Reach, Halo 3 feels...

...outdated.

Not to mentions slow and restricting.

I gave Halo 3 a pop last night after playing Reach exclusively since Monday and I couldn't believe how much Reach changed my expectations and preferences. The Halo 3 experience finally seemed dated to me...simple weapons race and hold the high ground strategies, BR and sniper dominating everything. Couriching melee/shotty surprises around every corner...

The changes in radar, power ups, combat and strategies that Reach introduced have really made advancements in the series in my opinion. Good thing they took down Halo 2 as Im afraid I wouldn't find that games MP fun at all now.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I haven't played Halo 3 again after playing the Beta, but I am sure I would feel the same way. Seems like you have much more control over how well you do now.

Totally...like I find myself retreating now in Reach during regular combat. That's a new concept for Halo.
Its like, energy low, no grenades, radar indicating invisible guy around..."shit, pull back!"

Halo 3 is still all about go go go, stop, wait 5 seconds, go go go, swarm...Unless the other team has rockets lol

its not just you , its because Halo 3's engine is outdated.

I live for the burn...and the sting of pleasure...
I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

I felt like this about Halo 3 since playing MW1.

old and dated.

Halo 3 visuals aside, the gameplay felt pretty tight until recently and wasn't outdated at all. Like yeah you had MW and Battlefield but both are completely different types of games. No other arcadey shooter came even close to halo 3 until reach...

I sure hope everybody that's played Halo 3 and the beta feels this way or else Bungie would feel they've failed since Reach is suppose to be their best work to date.

I had the same feelings on Monday night when I tried to play Halo 3 again. Reach seems to make you feel like you have weight and momentum when you move which makes it feel floaty when you go back to Halo 3.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Soon the Darkside will be irresistable and will crush the MS rebel scum underfoot.

The Wii owners are like Ewoks. The Evil empire will tolerate them but turn their forest moon into a secret base.

Halo 1 felt more modern to me than Halo 3 did. Many of the "retreat" strategies were used in the PC version of Halo 1. As far as I'm concerned, Halo 1's multiplayer (at least for the PC) is far above any Halo game that followed, and second only to Counter-Strike: Source.
