Cause the gamecube mario, and mario kart were not better than their predecessors. Actually, throw Windwaker in that list too.

MGS4 will be better than previous installments.

Partially incorrect:

Gamecube: Mario Kart Double Dash!!: 86.9%
Nintendo 64: Mario Kart 64: 85.9%

Gamecube: Super Smash Bros. Melee: 89.8%
Nintendo 64: Super Smash Bros.: 80.2%

According to Game Rankings, Mario Kart Double Dash!! is better than its predecessor, and the smae goes for Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Super Mario Sunshine, and Wind Waker, did very well, and achieved scores, not that much lower than their predecessors. The Gamecube had the best, first party games, of any console. It's third-party games damaged the Gamecube, and the fact that it could not play DVDs, and the fact that it had a low failure rate.

2008 can only be better for PS3... If they did worse in 2008 they would lose the generation and lose it big.

It will be interesting though. The way things are shaping up Wii still looks strong, 360 will win 2nd in North America, PS3 second in Japan... And Europe is up in the air because of Microsoft will fight to keep the total console lead on Sony in that territory.

2008 will be much better for Sony. 2007 is by far the worst of it. Facing the well established 360 and the smash hit Wii in the same year. PS3 is just now gaining ground and the PS3 lineup shines above the other 2 systems in terms of future launches. 360 has the best games now. I'm not really even sure what the Wii will have in 2008 other than Smash and Mario Kart.

Nah, it's pretty much impossible for the PS3 to do as piss poor as it did in 2007.

A cheaper system, an actual library and home will pretty much guarantee better sales than 07. I think next year will an interesting fight between the PS3 and 360.

Flagship, the topic creator is not talking about sales; rather, their ability to close the gap between themselves and other companies. They might move more consoles, but Microsoft is not going to sit still and wait for that to happen.

Nintendo are pretty much out of this conversation so I am going to keep this as close as I can. XBOX 360 vs PS3 is all about Europe. Japan and America have decided on the console of their choice and if Sony can manage some clever marketing in Europe, they might be able to overcome Microsoft Worldwide.

That does not mean they should neglect the NTSC region though. As Microsoft will begin to top off, gamers might want that secondary console. Also, should Blu-Ray win the format war, you can almost see the sales growth of the PS3 starting later than thee other consoles. This may result in it topping off later.

This could be the most entertaining consoles generation saleswise in the history of video games. So many exciting possibilities...

You know, I think the Sega Dreamcast sold more consoles for the same time the Playsation 3 has been out.

Microsoft is also better at hyping their games. Look at what they did for Halo 3. They had their own Master Chief was figure at Las vegas, midnight launches with celebrities, huge budget "museum" commercials, Nascars with Halo 3 logos, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

Now look at what Sony did with Ratchet. They quietly launched it and ran a few commercials. I can imagine next year that Microsoft will throw a mini parade for Banjo and make sure every kid on earth knows that "Banjo Kakooie is comming", and make them all pee in their

So was Sony in charge of hyping Mass effect?

there's no diversity because we're burning in the melting pot
