Who's to say really, this seems more like a 'what if' question almost. Square could actually feel like FFXIII wasnt a success as they'd hope it'd be. Sure they could be profitable now but it may not be the sales they were looking for.

For all we know, if FFXIII were to stay exclusive, it couldve been released earlier where the hype was stronger and not during a packed month, and sales couldve done alot better. (or worst but we will never know).

I think that if they released the ps3 version ww in december like they did for japan it would have done alot better. A price cut to the ps3 and then ff13 right after would have been pretty sweet.

Agreed.  I think it would've done amazing if it was release in September along with the price cut & slim (better yet bring the FFXIII PS3 bundle over too).  I dont believe there was any good PS3 games released at that time so that'd really push it and it'd be released before the MW2/NSMB Wii craze lol

The whole purpose for the games multipaltform status was because of the playstation 3s tagprice and lack of userbase in comparison to the xbox 360s. The safe assumption was that more xbox 360 versions will outsell their playstation 3 counterparts because the console was cheaper and had a larger userbase.

And now, the expectation is the opposite. More playstation 3 version outsold its xbox 360 counterparts, despite the playstation 3 selling the least out of the three consoles in userbase.

It was a disappointment that the game was no longer an exclusive as it should because of the series being synonymous with playstation, but because the general consensus of the game being the "worst final fantasy" in the series and got the lowest critic score out of all the numbered final fantasys, do people care any more?

I understand why they did it but as you pointed out the results were opposite and in my op it is the worst ff gam ever played (soundtrack is bad ass though).  I wonder what will happen with future games.

I think this should be a lesson to square enix and realise the signifance of brand recognition. If their games are about quality, stick to one console thats capable of making visions come true.

So true, this is just my op but i compared cg scenes for crisis core to ff13 and i'll be damned if cc looked better. If it was made soley for the ps3 the graphics would have been at uncharted 2 level, maybe better.

I expect final fantasy versus XIII to surpass uncharted 2 visually. Since nomura claimed that ingame graphics will visually the same to advent children graphics.

Over a 1/3 of its sales were on 360 in western markets. How could anyone argue that it was a mistake...

You can say that to any exclusive games and still sell on that other console.

The port was pointless and a waste of time.

So the team that deals with the ff7 series is  different from the ff10 team (they did ff13 if i'm not mistaken) ?
