Forums - Sony Discussion - I am officially an ex playstation fanboy

Well I think I've said once that I'm really sorry for what happened to your dog plus its pictures, but there is something I can't understand... Shouldn't the warranty extend for like a year or two instead of just one month when you received the 2nd PS3? At least in Portugal, every product has 2 years warranty, no exceptions.
Oh, and why haven't you tried to fix the YLOD? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9ZVt5lBMjU

Sorry bro, I've been through this before and it sucks majorly. My 360 died on me 4 times at the beginning of this gen so I can relate.

If you don't mind me asking... what kind of fanboy are you now?

reminds me to go back up my PS3 and take the dog to the vet.

LMAO.

stuff happens. I can't believe all of these game systems breaking down. I've been gaming for 20 yrs and never had a system break down on me. I also don't play them for 20 hrs straight. lol

thats just unlucky :( however if you knew you got a refurbished unit it should be used with caution and backed up with anything thats on it.
i backed everything up just incase as mine is one of the launch units from the UK and 2 of my friends and my girlfriends launch units have YLODed.

what are you going to do with all the games? seriously it actually seems cheaper to buy a new PS3Slim and remember to back it up instead of getting a different system and possibly re-buy some of the games you have when you feel like playing them again, maybe not but i like to play old games quite regularly.

sux 4 u.I ve had also ylod on 60gig model but i bought 80gb.

And u dont want to hear my 360 story.360 is not officially supported in my country so everything i can get is 6 month garanty from retailer.
first 360 no hdmi port, had problems with component, sold it to guy who use it with sdtv.
Second 360 drive problems, and ridiculous noise from dvd drive and cooler.in the garbage
third 360 rrod,i fixed it with youtube help only to give me e74 5,6 weeks later.in the garbage
ps3 60gb,ylod
now ps3 80gb,45nm chips.
i still cant understand how i was stupid even though i always wanted ps3 exclusives more but here 360 is so much more cheaper so....

both consoles have problems but ps3 cant compare to 360 imo.

good luck with ur new console

Which console will you buy now?

I'm in the same boat as you. I don't play my console till it's starting to melt, so I've never had one break (except a gamecube, boy i really broke that pretty good, but it was my fault, about 1/2 a gallon of water lol.)

If you paid 190 dollars to get it fixed you're a very special boy.

Always backup your data.

Sony warranty does not extend for only one month. you were either lied to because of your attitude (possibly as you seem t be a douche) or you are mistaken or lieing.

Too bad your dog died, but Sony didn;t kill it. skip the best games this gen, i don't mind

I'll read that, when you actually use paragraphs. I'm hardly a grammar nazi but I have my limits.

Let me get this straight. To make a long story short, I bought a 600 dollar ps3 in which i have over 30 games. I've been a playstation fanboy from back in the day with the ps one. I've got 62 ps2 games, and 43 ps one games. I dont know if any of you out there remember my screen name about me posting about when my ps3 broke the first time... (another long story in itself) my ps3 broke. YLOD, and my dog had died that week also and alot of really good pictures of her were on that hard drive. Sony reassured me to not send in my hard drive and that id rather wait until they could fix my original ps3 so i could be able to recover my data. Unfoturanatly i did not back up my data previously as i thought the PS3 was this system that could never break with a 10% failure rate compared to the 360's 50%. Well, i was returned with a ps3 that was even older than my original unit. Even thou it was still a 60 gigger. So, yeah i was pissed at sony but, as me bein interested in nothing unless it had the playstation brand name, i was still glad i paid the 190 dollars to get the ps3 fixed. Fast foward 32 days after getting the 2nd ps3 to me..... i go to turn it on and the YLOD is there. After 2 hours literally of playing phone tag with a manager at the sony hotline, she told me i was 2 days past my new warrannty and now i need to spend another 190 to get another one. I was infuriated and demanded to talk with someone even higher than her. She told me she cant give out that number unless its an emergency. I call this an emergency. I also told her that i need my data back on my drive. No matter what it takes, i dont care. And if i cant get the data, i want my ps3 shipped back to me, left unfixed because i put a bunch of songs i wrote on the "eyecreate"  with my band and was planning to back that data up but i didnt expect the ps3 to die within 32 days of a refurberished unit. She told me, sorry, theres no way of doing that b/c she has no control what the service center does. I than asked whats the number to the service center and she told me there is no number and that only corporate can talk to them directly. I told her all my situation, my past with playstation, how much MONEY ive spent with playstation, and she did not care. This my friends is a warning to you. Sony has lost another customer today, someone who has stupidly supported them even in their dark days. I will not ever buy another product from them again.

I'll read this when you put it into proper english and learn to format.
