Forums - Gaming Discussion - I like Dragon Age better on a console.

So when Dragon Age first came out I was really excited.  Baulders Gate was always a big part of my PC gaming experience and I never even thought about getting it for my 360.  I got it from steam and put a lot of hours into the game, created a couple of different characters, played in top down mode mostly, and for the most part really enjoyed the game.   And then I hit the wall, big time.  I lost interest, the combat while familiar seemed sluggish and almost to tedious.  I found myself conducting every move for every character and it was just too much.  I never finished the game and now it sits on my computer unwanted.

Last week I picked it up used for my 360. I remember reading the reviews and hearing how the 360 version didn't run as well and the PC version was the version to get.  Well I've been playing it all week and I was really surprised but I enjoy the 360 version better a lot better.  When I tried to play the PC version in third person mode it felt strange and clunky.  On the console version it felt great, it was smooth, the controller worked really well, and the interface was just plain better.  I think I'm enjoying the game more now because on my console, I'm more relaxed, I'm on my couch, I've got a nice big HD tv, everything just feels better.  It's a real compliment to Bioware to take this game style and move it over to the console market and do it so well.

I guess I'm posting this because for me it never accured to me that I would enjoy this more on a console. To me this style has always been more geared towards the PC and suddenly that changed for me and I'm wondering if anyone else feels the same.  I'm sure for most it won't and this is by no means a bashing of the PC, I still love my rig.

Yep, some of use were just mean't to play on consoles.

If I remember didn't they simplify it like the number of spells you could have etc for consoles? Which could cause people to like it cause it's more streamlined? And some people like that more. Because if it was the exact same game you could just put your xbox360 controller in your PC and get the same result with better graphics.

So maybe they should have put that as on option on PC

I dunno, I played it with mouse/keyboard, worked fine. The game was good fun, but unspectacular. Looked bad even on PC.

I have friends that love it on their console, but I can't get over the slower-paced control scheme. I've played too much WoW to be without my hotkeys. >.

Your opinion is wrong!

:D

OP is heresy. Where are the pitchforks?

I LOVE ICELAND!

this is your opinion and your entitled to it but i dont agree at all , imo the console version is actually really bad graphically and strategically plus it takes longer to get to certain items and abilities, it was a game that was made for pc first then brought over to console, i can see it the second i lay eyes on the pc version.

superior in every way

Ya I've tried the PC version, and it's pretty similar to MMOs I've played. But I prefer playing it on console.

I don't think it's better. Really... I just think the control setup for these type of games feels a little old, and unintuitive on PC.

I also play the PS3 version though which is supposed to be graphically superior than the 360 version, but with some minor framerate issues compared to the 360 version.

In the context of Dragon Age: PS3 > 360 > PC (IMO)

The console version is a lot easier, you are just not meant to play the harder version on PC, and that's fine, nobody is good at every single game out there.

Not very good at RTS or PVP in MMO I assume, don't even try to tell me that you are top tier Star Craft or WoW, because I call bullshit right now before you'd even try after reading that. Try and bring the word "intuitive" on dual analog with those games when you can't even pause, bullshit all over the place.
