Forums - Gaming Discussion - Which gaming system you bought and why?

PC because I play old games that are still better than the new stuff.

I only own a couple of 360 games that I play on a friend's console.

Had a PSP given to me as a gift that I use to play emulated games on.

The first system I bought this generation was the XBox 360. The PS3 was already available at the time, but there where no games that interested me back then. I waited for Lost Odyssey to be released before making the plunge. I'm a sucker for Sakaguchi's games and vision (My favorites from him are FF VI and IX).

Then a year later I got a PS3 because of Metal Gear Solid 4. Tried the demo of Uncharted shortly after and got hooked to the series. Becoming, to me, the game series of the current generation.

The DS is a no-brainer.  Any gamer should own one.  The quality and diversity of the games on this system is probably unmatched.  Especially for those who grew up at the beginning of the gaming era and are fond of classic style gameplay.  There are also many unique gems on this system like the Professor Layton series and Scibblenauts to name a few.  I got mine a couple of years after its release, when the Cobalt DS Lite got first launched.  Never regretted my purchase.

Last system I got was my PSP.  There is just too many Square-Enix games on this system that I had to own that I just couldn't resist anymore.  I use it mostly to listen to music, but I still game on it from time to time, and am eagerly anticipating Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

I have yet to get the Wii. Many of my family members do have one, so I got to play many of the must have games. I'm most likely gonna get one as soon as Zelda Wii and Metroid: Other M land on the store shelves. I did Twilight Princess on my Cube and I had a blast. Not sure I missed much from what the motion controls added to the already stellar experience.  There are so many games already released and coming out soon that I'd like to play and complete, like Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3.  Not mentioning the upcoming Dragon Quest X...

wii - nsmbwii, price cut

ps3 - Really liked my ps2. Bought my ps3 on sale in 2007 for some reason even though there was virtually no good games out.

Demon's Souls Official Thread  | Currently playing: Left 4 Dead 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Magicka

PS3

- Most of my favorite game series were on PS2 so I expected them to continue to PS3.
- Free online was a great plus
- I would have gotten a blu-ray player at some point anyway
- My best friends had it
- Brand Preference

psp: i got it because i like watching movies while travelling and it has much better graphics than a ds. I have bought more than 30 games so far, so it was totally worth it.

Wii: i got a wii only because it was cheap and also for wii fit, which was a disappointment. Then I got Mario Galaxy, but I was not very impressed. The only game that I did enjoy was Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution. I still wish I hadn't bought it and I don't sell any of my stuff, so it's been colecting dust for some years.

ps3: I am a loyal fun of sony ever since I bought a psx. It was a gift from my parents for the first scholarship I got when I was 12, so I felt like I earned it. I only bought a ps3 8 months ago, because I didn't have enough money to buy it till then and the price cut helped a lot. Now I own 27 games, but I don't have enough time to play most of them.

X-box360: although it has many awesome exclusives (like fable 2), i don't see myself ever getting one, mainly because of the RROD. I know that the ps3 has a similar problem(YLOF?), but at this point I don't trust microsoft at all and I'm pretty pissed as a customer that they still haven't fixed this problem completely. All of my friends who own a 360 now hate Microsoft because their consoles get a RROD every few months and instead of seeling their console they keep fixing it so that they can play halo. As I said in an other post my main concern is that I don't wanna worry about getting a RROD, while playing a game.

ds: although almost everyone owns one, there's no way i'm getting it, since I have a psp. The only games that i wish I could play are pokemon and dragon ball origins.

i got a wii cuz im a die-hard nintnedo fan (same for ds), and great games. i regret nothing

i dont have a 360 because my mom is the kind that says "you have enough game systems already, you cant buy anymore"(even with my own money!), hope to get one soon depending on my mom and if there is enough time to enjoy it before next gen.

no PS3 because it has yet to interest me.

I've got all the systems except for the PSP.

Why? Because I'm nuts... I consider myself a PC'er.

Hardly play any of them, yet everytime a system comes into the market, I end up buying them.

I game.  You game.  We game.

I'm a videogamer, not a fanboy, but have a special place for Nintendo.

Current Systems Owned: NSwitch/PS4/XONE/WiiU/3DS/2DS/PCGaming Rig-i7/ASUS i7 Gaming Laptop.

Previous Game Consoles:  PS3/Xbox360/Wii/DSL/Pretty much every one thats been released since the Atari 2600.

PC - I'm an RTS whore. Plus I usually keep it upgraded for multimedia purposes anyway.

PS3 - I have an assload of ps2 games. I figured the ps3 would continue providing me with a similar number of games, and it has. Plus most of my ps2 games were made by Sony, and I've come to realize they're my favorite publisher after Nintendo. Blu-ray's very nice too.

Wii - Nintendo's games are probably the best in the industry. The fact that Twilight Princess had been made a launch title ensured I'd get one at launch.

DS - I'm generally not much of a handheld gamer, but I had some spare cash one birthday, so I picked one up. Having an itch to play Pokemon and wanting to get the latest Zelda had been making me eye the system for while before that, though.

PSP - I had initially vowed to never get a PSP, since I already had too many systems to play. Then I happened upon a deal where I could get a brand new PSP-2000 plus a memory card for $70. Couldn't pass it up!

a ps3 because i am a sony fan( being a fan and a fan-boy are totally different....fan-boys suck)
I was going to get a wii because there was so much hype but now that i look at it the wii just had hype
i was also going to get a 360 but when i heard about he RROD i quickly turned to the ps3

I got them all, so I can get any game that I want without worrying about it being exclusive.
