Forums - Sony Discussion - What if Sony Signed an exclusivity with Activision for Bungie game?

If Sony wanted an exlcusive game from Bungie, they'd negociate a deal with Bungie directly coz if Sony asked for an exlcusive to Activision, Bobby Kotick would laugh at Sony and reply with a big fat NO.

don't forget that money talks, you have no IDEA how much money microsoft paid for the exclusivity of those episodes (Timed)

MS pays timed exclusives because it owns less studio than Sony. It is the way they work.

EU Playstation president claimed that this model is too costly for SONY regarding the returns.

There is nothing wrong with that.

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

i am not saying the go exclusive fully,i am saying activision would try to push a product as big games and sony would want it for NA

alsoBugie directly linking to PS3 would make Bungie image evil in Bungie fans eyes,if they do it with Activision they can blame them for it too and that they were just pushing the game and they will come back to xbox after the first one

I think you have Bungie fans and Xbox 360 fan boys mixed up. A true Bungie fan would be estatic about their favorite gaming studio being given a potentially huge moneymaking deal which could grow the studio. not so much for an Xbox fanboy.

Anyway, thanks for the laugh guys!!!

LOL hell no. You think Sony has enough money to pay for the 10 million + Bungie fans on the 360? Fact is that even though Bungie's games may go multi-plat their real home will always be on the 360 thats where their massive fan base is.

Bungie's fanbase is because of HAlo,doesn't mean HALO fans will buy everything from Bungie.Just because HALO sold so much doesn't mean everthing else will, maybe after 1 or 2 games in the series but not at first.

I was just trying to say how Sony will be able to help themselves if they even take a few fans of Bungie to 360 in North America.

Sony would have to do something amazing to get a timed exclusive with activision because they are clearly a multiplatform company.  Besides that activision has a great relationship with microsoft and bungie has a great relationship with microsoft.  Just a few years ago activision was threatening to cut ps3 support and criticizing sony so I don't see them becoming good buddies anytime soon.

A year ago, you mean. And just because he criticized Sony doesn't mean they're enemies or they hate Sony. I swear, it's just like Shinji Mikami all over again. One quote gets blown out of proportion.

I know it doesn't mean that they are enemies or that they hate each other but they aren't the best of partners to the point where they would actually have an exclusive agreement with each other either.  And you noticed that Mikami said he believed that some people bought a gamecube just for resident evil 4 and he felt bad about capcom making the game go muti-platform and as a result he left the company soon after that.

It was an exaggeration to say that he would cut his head off if it went multiplatform but he really wanted his game to stay exclusive to the gamecube.

Internet would instantly explode in 360 fans meltdowns and rage, but I doubt it'll happen.

What was the last Activision exclusive game?

That's what makes Sony great; they make their own great games so they don't need exclusivity deals.

You need to get a lesson in Sony business 101 A.S.A.P.

Activision wouldn't do exclusives period (from what I've seen this gen).

As for Mikami, as you said he felt people were screwed over by the multiplat move, and I would agree with that. But people blow these kind of things out of proportion.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

yeah i think that would be the big obstacle if it were to happen,Bungie relation with MS.Activisions relation with MS means nothing, the only reason they give them timed exclusive is cause MS pay them.

Also it wasn't a few years ago,it was last year that Activision was threatning to cut PS3 support and it was solely cause of PS3's price.

And it was because Bobby Kotick knew PS3 price cut was coming that he tried to threaten Sony in public about PS3 support removal so that when the price cut came,it would seem as it was because of him and that he had power to change things in the industry.

Activision couldn't afford to cut support completely either to MS or Sony,no chance about it.PS3 and 360 SW sales of activision are pretty close and that Guitar Hero makes more on the PS3.But they could try exclusivity with a new IP.
