Red Steel 2 Didn't sell becasue of the Samurai western theme.

If it would had a more familiar theme that spoke to more people, say like a classic fantasy theme, it would have sold tons regardless of its name.

That's probably 10th on the list behind:

piraters

Red Steel baggage

hardly any replay

WM+ still in toddler stage

lack of substantial advertising

not as 1:1 as people originally thought

lack of multiplayer/co-op as originally thought

not a nintendo product/distrust for 3rd parties

no online component

I don't think many people would avoid the game because of the setting. For a sword/gun weilding hero, western samurai makes sense.

This game will have legs at a discount price. As of now, it isn't valuable enough to most wii owners

No, a gun weilding Samurai would unly make sense if he had an actual samurai outfit and lived in feodal japan when guns were being introduced. For a sword/gun game, a similar setting to the original Red Seel would have made more sense than samurai cowboys.

Trust me, if they made the weapons into crossbow/sword. And made the theme about knights and dragons, it would have sold millions

No More Heroes 2 came out at a bad time, it came out with Mass Effect 2, M.A.G. and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. All those games had advertisement and No More Heroes had nothing.

I have 4 of the games you listed. Only paid full price for two of them The Conduit, Fun at first boring fast and Red Steel 2 fun still playing it have not beat it yet. HOD Overkill I paid 10 bucks for. I find it worth the 10 bucks but not worth anymore than $20. I had No More Heroes and hated it. I want Silent Hill, but I am afraid to pay $50 for it, so I shall wait until it is $20-$30.

None of the games are actually that bad, but some are not worth $50 or even close. We can give reasons for why a game did not do what someone here expected, but really some of them did much more than I thought they would.

Horrible thread.

About half of those games actually sold really well (Overkill, NMH, Resident Evil, Silent Hill), some just sold ok (The Conduit, MadWorld), and others flopped for a number of reasons (Red Steel 2: lack of multiplayer, etc.)

Nope they didn't sell well. You need a  million

Why these core games didn't sell on the Wii:

They weren't advertised well. And they were only released to limited markets with low initial stock, only to be restocked when the original games sold out.

That's why those games didn't sell.  They were never expected to sell well in the first place by their parent companies.

They didn't sell because they  were either shitty, boring, lack of promotion, they are part of series that doesn't sell well (silent hill), and etc.  nuff said

Put up your excuses all you want.  But only one reason you gave was valid.  Case in point, many games people consider 'shitty' or 'boring' on either the Wii or HD Consoles sold in the millions.  And just because a game is part of a series that didn't sell well in the past doesn't mean it can't sell well in the future with good advertising.

The reason games on the Wii don't sell is simply the two reasons I presented above.  And some other limited reasons in other causes such as bad timing of release (such as releasing it next to a game like New Super Mario Bros or Mario Kart Wii).  Aside from these points, the only factors third parties have to blame for their games not selling is themselves making sub-par games and them taking 3 years to start releasing even mediocre quality games on the Wii.

Six upcoming games you should look into:
