3 bombs in the OP.

Above expectations.... yeah, right! C'mon! Someone post that most wanted list famitsu released some time ago.

Nier was in 3rd or 4th, if I remember correctly, next to big boys like Final Fantasy Versus and Ni No Kuni!

Above Last Guardian though, which doesn't look so good for TLG.

The game was not made by square-enix, so i have no idea why anyone would think Final Fantasy: Nier would be okay.

SE published it. They also published Batman Arkham Asylum.

Cavia developed the game. Makers of Drakengard. Nier is probably one of the best games this year too.

However, is Nier a Square-Enix IP? Because Dragon Quest VIII was developed by level-5, but is obviously a square-enix IP

Because Batman obviously isn't Square-Enix IP (TSquare-Enix just publish a lot of things in japan, such as MW2)

I don't think it bomb in Japan, as per their expectations, and it debuting #1.

I do think it will bomb in the US/Others though. Because of the reception it's been getting (which is ugly/experiemental/some good reviews, some poor reviews 71 metacritic). But then again, since it's a new IP, it depends what square enix is expecting for the western audience. As it's obviously not expected to do Final Fantasy Like Numbers.

1. [PS3] NieR Replicant
2. [Wii] New Super Mario Bros. Wii
3. [PSP] Tokyo Mono Harashi: Karasu no Mori Gakuen Kitan
4. [PSP] Ys: Felghana no Chikai
5. [DS] Tomodachi Collection
6. [Wii] Wii Fit Plus
7. [PSP] Pro Baseball Spirits 2010
8. [PS3] Elder Scrolls IV (Game of the Year Edition)
9. [DS] Pokemon Ranger: Tracks of Light
10. [Wii] Mario Kart Wii

So no Nier of XBOX360 in top 10. :S

The Last Guardian will very likely move up the list in due time, as will Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Gran Turismo 5 as release draws closer. That's normal for this list. Probably even Halo Reach will at some point enter the list.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

It's too bad Nier's reign at the top will be for this week only, with DQM: Joker 2 (DS) coming out this week not to mention SSFIV (PS3/360).

Usually, I'm interested in picking up rpg's, but for some reason I have absolutely 0 interest in Nier. (Neither the 360 version, nor the PS3 version)

starcraft: "I and every PS3 fanboy alive are waiting for Versus more than FFXIII.
Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

Nier is mega giga success considering production cost and non-existant marketing
although the 360 version sold very poor but still it is also something for SQ
