So ps3 Slim is sold out AGAIN at amazon.com

Forums - Sales Discussion - So ps3 Slim is sold out AGAIN at amazon.com

i thought this would all stop with the shortages .... kind of amazed and kind of dumbfounded because sony has so much hype right now and they arent taking full advantage of it....

right now the ps3 slim at amazon is being sold at 369.99 from another retailer.

Amazon.ca says 'from 1 to 2 months'... wow. Is this for real?

even the 250GB is unavailable, surprising

I'm gonna say this again. PS3 is using the "it's going fast" Hype. You can still get Ps3's it's just that you gotta get them from certain places. "LIKE ONLINE" at their website. it's a sales tactic. Look at the stats for the last month and a half ps3 is outselling 360 across the board. Yet they keep telling us "oops we're all sold out". If I told you tomorrow that water was running out and I'm the only one who could sell it to you. guess who makes a killing selling water?

@ chingrin )

but that isn't the only reason - the other reason is profitability, as it's way more profitable to have factories run at full capacity, then producing more units, but having factories run at ~80%

They're not sold out, but they have shipping delay up to the 2-4 week mark (look at the new systems link "from 299.99") .
I also think Sony is just trying to get rid of old stock (for getting lower manufactured-cost systems in) kind of like when they launched the Slim version to begin with (they also were getting shortages)

120gb and 250gb have been out of stock on sonystyle the last few times i checked.

Plus, PS3 sales vs 360 sales has nothing to do with whether Sony has sufficient supply.  PS3 could be selling more, while PS3 demand still (marginally) outstrips supply, and that would be consistent with what we've been seeing.

yup, an also Sony just had a new region launch last month, Sony is shipping more system's there which may take away system's from other region's

also while getting ready to put out 2 more new sku's in the pipeline. they may have stock in other places in the world other than

just in only a few region's Sony may have had to split up more of the stock they can produce to be able to handle all of the region's in a single month.

I AM BOLO

100% lover "nothing else matter's" after that...

ps:

Proud psOne/2/3/p owner.  I survived Aplcalyps3 and all I got was this lousy Signature.

That's one thing everyone seems to be overlooking. The PS3 (and PS2) just officially launched in Vietnam in January and in the Philippines in March. You would expect them to have a decent amount of stock for a launch even if they are small regions.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

Just FYI, i know it's not a strong cross section of the total market, but most of the Brick & Mortar stores in my area (Austin, TX) are out also. None at Best Buy, Target, or Gamestop. I expected it to be fully in stock everywhere by now. But i think the realtailers knew ahead that it would still be in short supply. Why else would we not have seen a PS3 in a Best Buy or Target sunday ad all year?
