Monster Hunter Tri: Classic Controller Pro versus Wii Remote and Nunchuk

I have heard so much about this game but I have never played a Monster Hunter game before. So I decided to go and pick it up and see what all the fuss was about. I went into the store and saw two versions on the shelf; regular game only version and bundle version with the Classic Controller Pro. I asked the sales kid why would you use an "old" controller with this brand new game? Isn't the Classic Controller for playing Virtual Console games? The sales kid told me that this was a "hard core" game and you needed to use this "Xbox 360 type controller" to be any good at it. So I pick up the bundle version, get home, open the box and read the first part of the manual that states on page 6 "All controls explained in this manual are based off the the Freestyle control scheme (Wii remote + nunchuk). So now I am really confused. The game is bundled with a controller that is suppose to be the best way of playing the game (according to the sales kid) but the manual does not cover how to use said controller.

I will dive into the game this weekend, and I would rather not spend too much time trying both control systems if I do not have to. If there is a clear winner in which controller is best, I will start with that one. If it is too close to call, I wii try both. So I have come here to the oracle of gaming knowledge to find the truth. Cast your vote and give me your impressions, and I thank you in advance for your time.

In the absence of evidence to the contrary, always assume you have the upper hand.

I have seen extensive menus in some videos, I would certainly find it annoying having to select things using a control stick now.

Edit... okay can't find what I was looking for, I could have been thining of a different game (I remember it as some kind of shop or similar, where you saw your character and could equip stuff to it from a grid of little icons... the grid was about 10*10, which using a pointer is easy to navigate)

I use the regular classic controller, it works fine since it doesn't use the Z buttons. If I had got the pro bundle, I would have used that instead though. I didn't like the look of having to control the camera with the D pad on the Wii Remote, so decided to go with the classic controller for the dual anaolgue.

I play MH3[JP] almost 600 hrs with wiimote&nunchuck and able to kill anything without any problem.(Heavy bowgun, Light bowgun, sword+shield, katana)

Much funnier compare to CC.

I don't own the game yet (not out here for another week-in australia)...but many reviews I have read seem to favour the classic controller pro so that's probably what I'll try it with first...I'm a traditionalist and generally prefer a regular controller when given the option.

For me, CC Pro wins, hands down.

which are the differences between both controls? Are there motion controls with Wiimote-Nunchuck?

CC pro is much more comfortable than the original CC, and that's about it

the wii mote controls are position controls similar to No More Heroes

But, does the WiiMote-Nunchuck combination offers motion controls? Cursor in menus? or something? Or just pressing buttons with the camera in the Dpad?

I haven't played it using the Wiimote-Nunchuck, so I guess I'll offer my CC biased opinion.

Classic Controller Pro is very simple to pick up, and play.
