Forums - Sales Discussion - 39 million Xbox 360's sold? how does it make sense?

There is only 2 models out now so the number of units in stores will always be less than when they had to supply 3 models. It would seem the figures are spot on for the 360 to me.

gl with your bet jneul halo reach opening week might be pretty tough hopefully sony will have something to answer that.

depends when sony puts out gt5, also sony has ps move and lots of 3d games, so in my opinion ps3 will be fine, most of the halo fans already have x360s, so the x360 will get a boost still, just not as big as the one they got with halo 3, also it depends on how the public takes to natal, if it is a sucess then sony will really struggle to keep ahead sales wise.

it's the future of handheld

1.2 million seems low, typically it should be around 1.5 to 2.0 millions. I still believe that 360 is overtracked here. I think the difference is in region 'Others' since NPD numbers are close to VGChartz numbers.

And how exactly would you know that?

Currently 2 million is about 15 weeks supply for the X360, that's a large amount, not unprecedented for the X360 to be overshipped so much but a little unusual.

It's easy to fluctuate I am sure but I doubt anyone would notice low numbers of X360s if there were only 500k in "stock"

the 360 hasn't been pushing big numbers since christmas and even then was lacking compared to ps3 and wii. Doesn't seem impossible that they shipped that few. Shortages happen when there is higher demand then supply, so having a low supply and low demand would not make shortages.

It fluctuates, you have no clue whether 1.5 - 2 million is the normal allowance .....

In my opinion the X360 is not overtracked.

39.44 million X360s sold to date is legit.

what a surprise some sony fans think the 360 is overtracked... and when sony releases their numbers, whatever they are, they will then think the ps3 is undertracked..

it is always thus on here.

Indeed, thank god ioi doesn't adjust the 360 down every time jnuel says, or it would be in the negatives by now!

lololol

Her tracking has it on -39m

The 360 numbers are fine. Stop whining about it. 1.2 million on shelves is entirely reasonable. I just think MS overstuffed the channel a few months ago, which is why people are like "But dey had 3mil units in stocks beforez!!!" Give it a rest.
