Forums - General Discussion - Video games vs. Films

Can video games tell a more compelling story then films nowadays?

If so, which video game?

Bioshock

Hahahaha, no. In one scenario, the creator has complete control over what's happening and can shape a story however he wants. In the other, the creator has to give up a significant amount of power to the player since it's a GAME.

Doesn't Bioshock just rip off Atlas Shrugged though?

Definitely not. However games wont ever need to as the advantage of the medium is not its narrative capabilities but its interactivity.

Yeah, right down to the part where Dagny Taggart followed around some dude who'd had his organs stuffed inside an old diving suit while she collected DNA from corpses.

Tease.

No,i think that films have far better stories than games and books even more so.

"They will know heghan belongs to the helghast"

"England expects that everyman will do his duty"

"we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender"
