Forums - Gaming Discussion - RE: Umbrella Chronicle - a "lightgun" shooter?

Well, I wasn't quite expecting this. The re-release of RE4 makes more sense now. I also hope that Umbrella Chronicles isn't "on rails" - and still allows full exploration. This does make the game more accessible though?

Reason why I don't play these kind of games, the screens already scare the sh*t outta me

I'd like the dead just being well..... dead...

Tried to search for some info but concerning gameplay info nothing much at the moment. But Capcom will hold a Spring press on April 12th, so perhaps they will give some more details about this game... and others....

any other legit sources?

also on the topic of "lightgun" shooters...I know everyone says the Wiimote is nowhere near as fast as a lightgun, but I think the capabilities of the Wiimote still allow for some pretty intense rail shooters, perhaps just a little slower than typical arcade games...I think it would be really fun to have a crazy zombie shooter.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

No, haven't seen any other sources yet. MagicBox is very good (and accurate) in my opinion - quite often first with news out of Japan.

I think the Wii has huge potential for light-gun games - the gameplay style may just be mass market enough for the game to be a huge hit.

But Im a little concerned in that it *is* Resident Evil - one of the biggest titles to be hitting the Wii. I don't want a dumbed down, lightgun game to replace the potential that Umbrella Chronicles could have had.

...

Hmmm.. didn't a press release for this game previously mention that the game was in "two" parts? Maybe this is the "first-person/lightgun" part of the game - with the 2nd part being the more traditional, over-the-shoulder angle that worked so well in RE4.

Anyway, guess we'll find out (something) on the 12th :)

EDIT: Had a look at Wikipedia, and the details seem to match: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umbrella_Chronicles

I don't understand... how can a WiiGirl have moustache? Maybe there's a conspiracy and all the people who have moustache are actually women? Just imagine the consequences...

Ey?! That's my hero you're talking about  I've got a mustache but as youngsters are probably joining this site as well I don't want to add any further details

Anywho, on topic, the WII remote responds quickly, just take Wario for example. You'll need to respond really fast in an amount of seconds and the interaction between the remote and the game works perfectly! Therefore I don't doubt for a second that an on-rail shooter will just work fine on the WII with the remote.

Actually no one ever talked about this game beeing a "lightgun" shooter... I don´t know where this site has it´s information from - but at this moment the rumor of Umbrella Chronicles beeing a lightgun shooter is something Sony fans talk about.

Edit: Some of my favourite Sites now say it WILL be a light gun shooter... I´m still not sure if they just copied what others said but if it´s a Lightgun shooter I´ll definitely not buy it...

Yes, the devil is in the details... I found another pic of WiiGirl76: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/49241779/

EDIT: I found out we're both from a European country with letters L, A, N, and D in the name! What a coincidence! Have you ever thought about making a photo album?

It would be cool if certain parts of the game were like this and other was like RE4.

Pity the Resident Evil fanatic. Not only has the poor guy had to buy two chainsaw controllers and brave two Resident Evil movies (and now suffers cold sweats anticipating the third), but according to Famitsu, he'll now have to buy a third version of Resident Evil 4, this time for Wii.

An intrepid NeoGAF member translated the info from the most recent issue of the Japanese magazine. The new version (presumably the unannounced game that Capcom hinted at last month) uses the Wiimote for aiming, naturally, but also uses it for stabbing zombies, as God intended. There's no word yet on whether or not it will reach North America, but a listing for the game briefly appeared on Gamestop's site, and the thing's already been localized once, so it would seem like a lock.

The scans say that the game will also include a trailer for Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles which we know is due out before the end of 2007. Also, the Gamestop listing had the game set for June 25, so maybe you'll be whiling the summer days away holed up, slashing zombies -- suntan be damned!

Speaking of Umbrella Chronicles, the same scans report the game will be an on-rails shooter that will reveal the fall of the Umbrella Corporation. Chris, Jill, Rebecca, and Albert Wesker will return for the game, all in glorious 480p widescreen.

Yikes, do you hear that sort of low, groaning noise? Oh, it's all the people who bought Resident Evil: Dead Aim.
Don't worry you guys, there's no indication that the two are directly linked, save for both being Resident Evil games in first-person perspective.

With Capcom Day set for April 12, more information on both titles will likely be on the way soon.
