And they're not weighed down by a $1.15 billion charge to repair defective-by-manufacturer consoles.

Dammit now I have to clean up my monitor.. I spit Orange Juice on it from laughing at your comment. Well done, sir.

Sometimes I wonder if Legend11 is a Microsoft employee who is paid to post these doom and gloom stories about Nintendo.

Here is the question: is it legal to ban the sales of M3/R4? In and of itself, it is just a card that allows users to run Hebrew applications and 'backups' of their games. The company could argue that whatever other uses people do with it is not under the responsibility.

I still dont even see why mod-chipping a product you own is illegal.

I don't quite understand it, but i think you are fine if you mod it and you are fine if you use that mod to play games for free as long as those games are not licenced, but if you use it to enable cheap/free play of games licenced by Nintendo then that is illegal.

no both Sony and Nintendo (more so then not Nintendo, Sony just updates firmware bricking a large amount of modded PSPs) have a clause in the purchasing of the handheld that no extrenal aps or games or anything can be run and that they can legally sue you if they feel need to end some program you duistributed. \

This is why Sony enabled linux on the PS3 to stop hackers from destroying the system but allowing them to code software and aps for the console.

My roommate bought R4 and a DS at the same time. Him being a Ninty fan I asked him how come he isn't supporting the company. His response?

"I wasn't going to buy a DS without the R4. Nintendo profits off hardware so I am actually helping them out by buying an R4 and DS instead of not buying either."

Have you guys seen one of these things yet? A guy came into my Best Buy with one of those. I have never seen anything like it! He said his wii was the same. He had all kinds of games and Music on his R4 thingy. It was pretty sick!

I lol'd. Hard.

I really don't think nintendo is in that much danger. Piracy is a part of the media industries...from music, to tv, to film, to video games...yet the industries live on.

Why?

Because only a small minority actually don the eye patch.

For the record, the PS2 was modded like crazy (there is supposedly even a mod that is done only via the memory card... that just came out). The GBA was hacked. 360s are flashed/modded. Wii's are modded. To name a few.

I think the only system that is safe for now is the PS3. 1) The games are on blu-ray (need a blu ray burner). 2) There isn't a desire.

But eventually...
