PREMISE

- The story of Chaos Rings revolves around a tournament called "Arka Arena"

CHARACTERS

- The game is made up of four scenarios (playthroughs) in all
- Each playthrough revolves around one of the four teams of two
- The pairs you are not in control of face against you as rivals
- To uncover the full story all four playthroughs must be completed

PROGRESSION

- The main progression is in the tournament "Arka Arena"

CONTROLS

- You control both partners within the team
- Attacks and abilities divided between "solo" and "pair" commands
- Pair attacks execute special combo skills and greater damage, but opens up both partners to damage
- Strategic play is promised as HP is only replenished after a battle
- Fights can be against multiple enemies at once

ABILITY SYSTEM

- Once enemies are defeated, you can acquire their genetic information called "Genes"
- These Genes can then be equipped to grant skills
- Genes can evolve after use in battle becoming more powerful, and even produce new skills

Just out in Europe for 20 minutes and I'm loving it!

Very polished game, gameplay seems good, very good... battles are involves more strategy then you would think..
Story seems nothing special at all but it's seems a bit better then the normal boy save world with girl next door..
It's like playing a Squaresoft ps1 classic..  may post more impressions when I have played it a bit longer.. but nobody cares about iPhone games so i'll probably won't post anymore... & I'm too busy playing this game! :) everyone with an iDevice needs to buy this!

ps: and the music is awesome!!!

WOW, that actually looks great! Square enix's efforts on the iphone have been underwhelming but this looks like a ps1 era rpg. I really want this game to be good.

Sorry, I just had to.

Pixel Art can be fun.

First iPhone app/anything else purchase?

I think so.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

I just bought FM, so I won't buy it (16.99 !!). but it's good to see that it's not another TD game. I'll wait for a deal then :P

How's Football Manager? Any good? Like the PC versions? I wanted to buy it today but then I saw Chaos Rings out in NZ and waited the entire day to buy this.. :)

it's good, not really like the PC versions. apparently it's just a copy of the PSP version, but I didn't play that one. they took away individual instructions and custom positioning. you're restricted to team instructions: mentality (balanced, defensive, attacking), pass (any, short, direct, long), tackle (strong, cautious) and pressure, counter-attack, man behind the ball and another one I forgot. the database is much smaller too, and the pitch view has some problems, such as when the keeper defends the ball but the pitch shows the ball going inside the goal then out... it's all weird.

outside the match there isn't much to do, interaction with the press and players is also limited. it's obviously much faster than playing on PC, but I would still like more instructions, even if they're team-only, such as crossing the ball or holding the ball up front. anyway, I think it was worth the price.
